Color Help!

Having a big of a hard time with colors... I'll set up the scene and then ask the question...

Bridesmaids are in black http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycolor_detail.jsp?stid=2805&sid=12931&cfid=7 with dark red (apple) shawls. Jr. Bridesmaid is in same apple red. Wedding is outside in the evening, under a tent by the Hudson River. Tent will have white lanterns hanging from ceiling, and am planning on red and white flowers for bouquets and centerpieces, plus some curly willow arrangements. Currently have white linens with white chairs.. and thinking this is too much white. Need to come up with alternative idea for linen color, possibly an accent color! I think having the dark red linens will be TOO much with red flowers on tables, and also not sure the rental company we are using HAS the right red (they have more of a traditional red - too bright). What do you guys think? Should I stick with white? I was thinking maybe throwing in ivory? Or a "wheat color"? But dont know if that will clash with all the other white? HELP!

Personally I would say stick with the white. It doesn't sound like too much to me. I think all that white will make the red pop more.

I agree with prbetsi75, I think the red/white centerpieces will stand out and look really nice with all the white.

My color is deep red, ivory and with gold as an accent color. I'm using ivory all over the reception except with red centerpieces. So I think sticking with white sounds good. Like prbetsi the white will make the red pop more.

Oh I'm in LOVE with the Hudson River Valley. I used to play polo in Newburgh & Middletown through college, its SO beautiful up there. I'm envious ;)

I think white is beautiful along with the other ladies but ms.sumomo has a great idea with the metallics. How about using gold, bronze, copper or pewter containers? You could even use painted containers in those accents, and then metallic ribbons to tie the napkins and act as a napkin ring?? Or accent the candles with metallics? I think it would be just beautiful to have the soft lantern and candle light reflect off of some of your accents.

With the red and white you're doing I would suggest teal/turquoise for a pop of color in the tent! Perhaps turquoise or teal runners or napkins and chair sashes or to be bold you could do teal table linens which will make white plates and your florals truly "pop".

If you want to stick with red + white + black you could always pull in some silver or gold onto the tables. Or go with black table linens and red chair covers and sashes, somewhat echoing your BM attire.

I would suggest with sticking with basically what you are doing, but maybe adding a black overlay or runner to the mix. Maybe the company has a white with black damask edging? I have actually seen people use napkins as an "overlay" just under the centerpiece to frame it. You could pull the black in there

My colors are black and a mix of reds, so I'm using satin champagne linens. So far I love the look that were doing- we're actually not doing any white in the wedding, just my ivory dress. Personally I do not like white linens, so I think even ivory or a color might jazz it up a bit.... OR if you do go with white- get something textured...

I do agree with you- the perfect red linens are hard to find- I was in the same boat, so I just moved on from the idea...

Keep looking at pictures to get your ideas!

I don't know how well this would go with the black or how much black you are actually incorporating but this may help to visualize the suggestion Lori had about teal

What about doing a sheer, shimmery gold overlay over the white table cloths? That way the white chairs wouldn't stand out because there is still white on the tables but the overlay would add some color and sparkle to the room.

This inspiration board was just posted over on Style Me Pretty:

Although it doesn't explicitly show the tables, I think they're showing some black and white patterned linens, which would look stunning with your red flowers. I would suggest using it sparingly, though, like a runner, not a whole tablecloth. HTH!
