~Color Help~

I am getting married in April and have colors picked but their not the colors I really want. The colors I truley love are black white and red. The only thing is I am worried they are to dark for a spring wedding.

Do you girls think black white and red would be to dark for a spring wedding?

What is your theme, what time of day are you getting married, and what is your venue?

Not if you keep the black down to just accents I think it would be okay. Then it would still look light and airy with all the white. Plus select light fabrics (not velvet, etc.) and it would be fine. Since you seem iffy which of the three colors would you replace if you had too? WHite and Black are neutrals so is it the red you really like? What if you did black and white with another color that's more spring-like? If it's the red that you like the most then maybe mix the red with other colors that are more spring-like instead of black. Just a few ideas. Also the photos section of the website can be filtered by color and you get some really good ideas!

I don't think it would be too dark at all. If you're really worried maybe just use mostly white and add subtle color here and there too, green looks really nice with black, white and red.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Our wedding is 11.22 and we're doing black, white and celadon green.  That shade of green is a very spring color but we don't care.

Do what makes you happy - you'll only regret it if you go with colors that aren't "you."

i'm doing the same....PIB....and my wedding is in April....go for it...i think those are "classic" colors that will never look too trendy, no matter the season....also, considering you're in CA...i think you can get away more with not abidding by the "seasonal" color thing...not like you live in the NE or something....

I am getting married in March and I am having the same colors.  I'm trying to concentrate more on the red than the black. Although, my bridesmaids will be wearing black.  I think if those are the colors you like...DO IT! You don't want to look back later and regret choosing different colors.

Amiller I dont really have a theme but I do want it to be classy and elegant, I am getting married in the afternoon @ 2, and our reception is in a hall which is beautiful with chandeliers and tall ceilings.

One of my friends who got married in May had black bridesmaids dresses and her theme colors were ivory, black and hot pink. It looked really nice.

If you don't want it to be too dark use more white and red, with just highlights of black. Just becuase it's spring, it doesn't mean you have to use pink!  Go with what you love!

I'm April and we are basically doing black, white and red. We are adding circus, yellow, orange and pink roses to the BM bouquets to "spring" it up a little. But essentially, our main colors are black white and red.  I don't think that just becuase it is a spring wedding you have to do pastel colors or whatever. Some people have commented to me that they are winter colors, but they are just looking at tradition. Today...anything goes. THose are the colors I love and that is the month that we needed and wanted to get married, so that's the way it is. :)

That's a great idea to add the other colors to the bouquets. Can't wait to see how that turns out. I bet it will look great.

I have 9 bridesmiads including my 3 MOH and i also have  2 Jr. bridesmaid and 2 flower girls. So I was thinking of putting my 9 girls in black dresses my Jr. in maybe red with a black sash and my flower girls in red too.l I am not really sure how it will look its an idea for now. For the guys I think black with red tie.

The only thing I am kind of having trouble with is the decor for the reception. Our hall package came with gold chavari chairs and gold chargers. I am not really sure what to do for the tables linen color and sash color and also would the gold make it look bad?

Any advice I would really appreciate it. You girls are awsome!

you can weave a black or red sash through the chairs...IMO not worth extra cost to rent other chairs....just use gold as your accent metal instead of silver...

check out bios of Mrs Napton and HMM....sounds similar to the look you're going for...

How attached to the Red are you? You could do black and white with spashes of springy colors or that aqua blue or tiffany's blue...

Stick with the red. Think about it...when you look at pics in 10 or 20 years are you going to be thinking about what month it is or just looking at the beautiful pics. Same for the day of...are your guests going to be analyzing the color and time of year or just enjoying the day and the beautiful decor.

If red is your favorite color then you probably won't be happy with any other color choice

Combes2Be thanks for your advice. I know my first color choice was eggplant and mint green. Then i was thinking would I be really happy 10 years down the line with the colors I chose and thats when it hit me. I knew I always loved the color scheme red black and white. So i know 10 years when I look at my pics I will be so happy because I am going with the colors I always loved.
