Confusing question..

So I am going to post this on my PCOS forums too, but I was hoping someone one on here may know a little about it. I just had my first period on over a year (this week) and it was induced by prometrium (a progesterone pill). I take the pill for 10 days, then stop and my period comes. However this pill does not induce ovulation, just shedding of the uteran lining to decrease the risk of cancer.

I was charting my temps and they have been 97.7 for the last week, then today it dropped to 97.2. First of all, does the drop in temps mean anything for me? Second, I am still on my period (but it's technically a "fake" period), so I can't really check CM. Is there a chance I could be ovulating while having a medically induced period?

I'm just thinking maybe I actually DID ovulate this month (like it's going on right this second) and the two things (my real bodily function and my pill induced ones) overlapped

Does this make any sense to anyone but me? lol Thanks girls!

ok, this is a weeee bit complicated.

first off, a .05 change in temp is considered small. secondly, a drop in temp (if it drops below your baseline temp), indicates a drop in progesterone=AF.  HOWEVER, .05 drop is normal.

Use me as an example, in Aug 2007 my temp was 98.8 then dropped below 97.5, af arrived that day (before 2pm). can you post your chart? its easier to analyze

I've been doing it in a book but its like this

CD1- 97.7 (AF started)
CD2- 97.7 (AF)
CD3- 97.7 (AF)
CD4- 97.7 (AF)
CD5- 97.7 (AF)
CD6- 97.2 (AF)

So probably not even close to ovulation but I'm in a weird situation so it's hard to tell

I think it's odd to have 5 temps in a row that are exactly the same.  Especially 97.7 since it is usually the default temp for a lot of digitals(like when you turn it on, 97.7 is the temp is displays).  What kind of thermometer are you using and how old is it?  Are you sure it's working?

Assuming it's correct, it could be a normal pattern for you.  I've only charted a couple of months, but this is the pattern I've been seeing.  I usually have a temp drop for the last 2 days of my cycle, then it goes back up when I start AF and stays high a couple of days, then it takes a couple of days to drop off, so it isn't the regular pre-O levels until a few days into my cycle.  Then it's pretty consistent until I O.  On the day I O, it drops a few tenths.  Then it goes up to post-O levels until the end of my cycle.  Last month's is below.

O-ing on day 6 would be really early.  That would make your cycle be like 20-22 days.  So it's not impossible if you have a short cycle this month, but most people O later.

Since I was on prometrium and I haven't ovulated in over a year could that make my temps the same like that? Today it was 97.5 So it's changed a little bit...

Oh and my themometer starts out flashing "L" and then starts measuring temp. I haven't noticed a 97.7 when I first turn it on.

I guess the prometrium could make your temp level like that, I'm not sure.
