Copied dresses

Has anyone ever had their dress made as a copy of another through places like eBay? With the budget getting tighter and tighter, it's sounding a lot more tempting.

I wouldn't suggest doing it with an online place. Definitely meet with the person and see some of their work in person. I was considering Shin Bu Bridal in Koreatown (LA) until I found my dress at Jaclyn's Bridal near South Coast Plaza. But, seriously, his work is absolutely amazing. He's been featured on Daily Candy and I've seen his dresses in his store windows. They look like they should be in the windows of Neiman Marcus or another fancy store. He's probably not cheap but definitely less expensive than a designer dress. Good luck! Meg

I'm not sure if I would trust ebay. Have you tried Pearl's or J. Crew?

I bought my Nicole Miller on ebay, it was perfect....but it also wasn't a knockoff. You can find some really nice designer gowns on ebay, real cheap. If you don't like it relist it.

I know what you mean about the budget. I too am very tempted by the prices of "copied" dresses. I am hesitant because I worry about the quality in the construction and in the fabrics. There are a few on e-bay that have GREAT reviews. I'm considering ordering a "departure" dress from them. This should be less risky and a good trial run.

I've posted a similar question

I had some great responses from several ladies.

if you're looking through e-bay...make sure you check yourdreamdress.com
they have lots of designer dresses with unbelievable prices..and the big pluss...they will allow you to return and inform you of sizes...make sure you read their policy....remember couture dresses are smaller than street size...
good luck
