I am kind of worried i may be uncomfortable on my big day, but i guess pain is beauty right?! LOL... I just did the alterations to the muslin corset and mailed it back and she is now making the real one. It def brings in the waist which is nice! heres a pic from the fitting..So I was wondering photo 3381856-1

You have a beautiful figure! Now, the ideal corset is not set like the torture devices from yore. you should be breathing comfortably (because extended times of pressure on the chest is dangerous... thus why people were always fainting, lol!)

Also, you shouldn't be manually sucking in your stomach- the corset should do it for you, so you don't overtighten and cause unintentional damage to your rib cage.

The basic rule of tumb- it should suck you in, but not crush you. it will be a but restricting, but not make it hard to function. Does that make sense?

(At least my theater minor can come in handy somewhere, right? lol)

Thank you! Yeah i def did not suck it in when they tightened it and they kept checking with me to make sure i could breath right. I figured i could always loosen it a bit to dance and what not later on in the night.

You are workin' it, girl! Just make sure, as stated above, that you can move and breathe comfortably. Try to bend down a few different ways as well to make sure that the sides don't poke your ribcage either :)

As a historical reenactor I wear my corset constantly!  LOVE IT!  It's very comfy, I can bend and work in it.

A custom fit is a good start, buying them off the rack isn't good because of waist length's, bust issues etc.

If possible wear something underneath it, even if it is a tank top that you tuck down into it.  The garment underneath will help with rubbing and will protect your corset from your sweat and oils.

Break it in if possible.  Wear it every few days to not only get used to it but to help break it in.  I will let you know, atleast in my 28 year corset experience that your corset will stretch and the laces will loosen during the day.  This is normal.  I on occasion have to get someone tighten them back up for me. If you can do a dual set of laces, that will also help for comfort.  If you only need to adjust the top set of laces then you don't have to mess with the bottom, or vice versa.  I can send you a diagram if you are intested.

Don't lace it to tight if you can.  This will also help with wearing.

Hope this information helps!

Thank you so much!!!!!! I would def be interested in seeing the diagram..I will have to find a cami i can slip under it then. A couple of my girls know how to lace corsets so they can tighten it if need be throughout the day.
