Okay it all depends on what you want.
Cruises can be cheaper but I think it should be about getting the best bang for your buck. We just booked our Jamica Honeymoon. It was more expensive but we are going to be able to have more excursions then if we went on a cruise.

So here is our honeymoon breakdown. We will be spending 10 days in a 1 bedroom ocean front suite. Plus 2 roundtrip business class tickets from LAX to Jamica.
$3600.00
Our resort is all-inclusive.

Having experienced both, we preferred the all inclusive resort for our honeymoon.  With a cruise, there is somewhat a schedule, atleast on the days where you port.  With a resort, everything is at your leisure.

Definitely resort. Our travel agent told us that no cruises are all-inclusive. They jack up the prices on drinks, and it ends up being stressful to you. You want your trip to be the most relaxing possible.

We loved our RC cruise. We did a 7 day to Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten & St. Croix, and then we spent an additional 3 days in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Ritz. It was PHENOMENAL.

While yes, drinks are expensive, if you bring your own aboard and tip the guys out front, you can drink fairly cheaply. You might get caught, but probably not.

All of the non-formal dinner nights in the main dining room, we spent at the specialty restaurants, so we ate very well.

We went on an excursion at every port (5), so that was kind of expensive (around $100 per person per day), but we offset that with gambling winnings (we got 1st and 2nd place in the week long poker tournament).

Our entire trip taking out the excursions was somewhere around $3K.

I vote for all inclusive resort- It just seems more private as well more of a bang for your buck.

I vote cruise! DH and I love cruising (we typically do Celebrity once in a while we do Royal Caribbean) we are planning once for next month, a 10 night on Celebrity Equinox... The drinks can get expensive but if you plan on drinking a lot you can always get the unlimited drink package depending on your cruise line... Plus you don't have to worry about finding a safe place to stay in the islands and you get to experience so many more places.

Also, just because there is always some event happening on the cruise ship it doesn't mean you have to partake in it.. There are plenty of places to relax... DH and I usually don't participate in many things, we like to relax onboard.. Once in a while we do an excurison, but usually we just explore on our own or find a cab driver to give us a tour.... they are usually cheaper and better than the actual tour groups...

The cruise you get to see a little bit of everything its an adventure and think of it that it is still all inclusive.  The resort you go one place eat the same types of food everyday and you subject to one island/country.  The cruise will definitely be cheaper and plus you can still always throw in a different excursion at every stop.  The all inclusive resort you get one place several excursions.  The cruise you get a taste of different places, meet different ethnicity and will be able to partake in different cultures.  If you looking for variety chose the cruise.  You can also do a all inclusive resort for one of those places base on your cruise experience just my thoughts.

It def really depends on what you want... a cruise can be very busy and if you want to relax, the all-inclusive is the way to go.  Also, like the ladies have said, it depends on money too.  You could spend more at an all-inclusive, but literally everything is paid for unless you want to an excursion or buy gifts.

We are personally going with an all-inclusive.  I want to do a cruise, but not for my honeymoon.  I really just want to relax and enjoy every minute with my hubby--planning a wedding is time consuming and can be stressfull at times.  We plan on doing an excursion or two, and the rest of the days just eating, drinking, and enjoying the resort.

Hope this helps!

I was wondering about this too. Looking through everything the ladies said, i'd like to go on a cruise sometime, but for my honeymoon, i'd pick a resort (even though FI wants us to go on a cruise). I've not been on a cruise before and I'm afraid i would get seasick or not be too relaxed and that's a priority for me so all inclusive resort here i come. I was told you could get some really good deals on cheapcaribbean.com HTH-)

I've been on a cruise and I absolutely loved it!!  Buuut in my opinion, a cruise is not for honeymooning.  You get to experience a whole bunch of places, but it can be crowded and there are kids all over the place acting like typical kids.  Kids can be at all-inclusive resorts, but you have less chance of having them stare at you throughout the whole dinner or shoving you as they run by to catch up with their friends.  I feel like the resorts cater towards honeymooners more than cruises.  You'll have fun with either one you choose!

I know that I prefer resorts over cruises. There are just as many execursions and things to keep you occupied on the resort. But the beauty of the resort is that you can stay in the resort when YOU want and you can leave the resort when YOU want. With the cruise you don't have that flexibility, you're stuck on their schedule. So if you start to go stir crazy, there isn't anything you can do until the next time you dock.

My most recent resort was the all inclusive Hilton resort in Costa Rica and it was magnificent. We spent 3/7 days at the resort itself, lounging, exploring, and the rest of the days we took trips here and there to zip lining, rain forest tours, botanical gardens, so much!

I LOVED being on a cruise!  So much so that that's where we're headed on our honeymoon. (It'll be FH's first cruise.)  It's all inclusive in the respect of your room, food, and evening's entertainment are covered.  We did the honeymoon registry when we booked the cruise so we're hoping that someone will get us a bottle of champagne to be in our room when we get there. :)  Yes, alcohol is expensive but neither of us are big drinkers so we'll probably have 1 each on a formal night and call it good.  There are lots of activities to do around a ship and it's up to you whether to be busy or laid back and relaxed.  It's also your choice what you do when you reach port.  You make it what you want it to be.

FI and I went through this same convsersation. THis is what we agreed on. We want extra special attention as newlyweds, we felt like we wouldnt get that on a cruise. At the resort we are  booking we get free couples massage, chocolates, champagne and flowers on arrival and dinner on the beach one night! thats how we decided:)
