Curious- if you are paying less than $40 pp for your reception....

I'd like to know who are all the ladies that are in the $40 below club pp for their reception. I want to know where you are from and what is included in your price.

Food & drink wise we are under $40.  Well under.  We are getting married in Pensacola, FL.  We are having an afternoon heavy h'ordeuvres reception with bloody marys, screw drivers, 2 wines and 3 beers.  The alcohol is based solely on consumption...so we only pay for what people drink.  Instead of a cake, we are having cupcakes which will run about $2.00 per cupcake with a person averaging 1 cupcake each.

I'm in a small-ish city north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am paying $27pp and that includes 3 pieces hor d'oeuvres, 3 course sit down dinner (salad, chicken main, crepe desert, coffee, tea). We are able to bring in all of our own alcohol so we are figuring it will end up costing around $15pp for a full open bar, bringing us around $40pp total.

We paid $1000 for the venue and the caterer is $20 per person for 200 guests. We bring our own alcohol.

We are right around $40 per person for our wedding in Cincinnati. It only includes buffet style dinner and a 4 hour bar package of beer & wine. We are doing cash bar for liquor. We are also doing passed hor d'oeuvres for cocktail hour but they cost extra.

Ours is about $6 pp including cake, san pellegrino limonatas, punch, hors d'oeuvres and european desserts such as creme brulees paris brest, etc. This doesn't include plates, glasses, or sparkling cider, which is an additional maybe $2 pp?

Oh, I'm in Spokane, Wash.

I am in the detroit suburbs and 95% of the places around here for food and bar go for under $40. I paid $31 pp on a friday night, on a saturday it would have been like $39pp.

We paid about $20 per person. Our wedding was on a Saturday evening. Instead of paying a caterer though we rented the upstairs floor of one of our favorite restaurants... which allowed for a plated dinner at an affordable price. We're also in the midwest which probably helps. Prices on the east and west coast always seem to be alot higher.

The $20 included:

Appetizers
Fresh Fruit - Fresh seasonal fruit
Cheese Bisquets- Pastry puffs bursting with cheesy-buttery flavor

Soup and Salad
Chef Ian’s Signature Salad - Mixed greens served with a variety of dressings
Chef Ian’s Signature Red Bell Pepper Soup- Creamy, decadent, and slightly spicy

Entrées
Chicken Burre Blanc - Grilled chicken sautéed in a rich buttery white wine sauce
Roast Beef - Flavorful beef roast with garlic and herbs

Side Dishes
Roasted Garlic Rosemary Potatoes
Ratatouille
Assorted Fresh Breads and Crostini

Dessert
Wedding Cake - Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting

Beverages
Iced Tea, Water, Coke Products & Coffee Bride and groom purchased 2 alchoholic beverages per adult guest, after which there was a cash bar.

I was only able to get that price at the venue I wanted on a weekend day by hosting a brunch wedding.

Wowza, $40 pp or more? I found I think just one venue in my area that was even close to that, and they had a $3000 minimum so it kind of made sense.

We are paying $9.50 pp, for a buffet style with the head and 3 family tables served. That includes choice of 3 meats (they offered us a wide selection) dinner salad, 3 sides, and milk, water, lemonade and coffee. Also includes decent dinnerware (plain white china, standard silverware) and paper cups.

They gave us quite a selecton as far as each thing - like we picked 3 meats (going with prime rib, chicken cordan blu and ham) from a huge list but they said they could pretty much make whatever we wanted, we might just have to pay more if it was unusual.

It doesn't include pop or alcohol. We are paying $50 per keg, beer of our choice, so we are getting 4 kegs and then having an open bar. They provide champagne for the wedding party, wine if we want to pay for it. They also charge per case of pop but I don't remember how much. We are also getting so much pop.

This place has their own catering business and it's family run, I think that's why it's cheaper. I'm very glad we went with them, the food is delicious!

Ok... Let's see.  I guess it depends on what you are asking about.  lol  My reception was on a different day from my wedding ceremony, sooo... Here's a breakdown:

$1200 catering/drinks

$100 centerpieces

$20 cardbox

$240 venue (6 hour rental - included tables/chairs/bigscreen TV/IPod speakers)

$200 cake/cupcakes

$25 homemade cookies/blueberry muffins + dessert platters to put them on

$5 signs/frames for signs

$30 disposable cameras

That totals $1820 and with 76 people at the reception comes out to ~$23.95 per person.

However, if we add in 1/2 the wedding planner cost and 1/2 the photography then we are at:

$300 1/2 of wedding planner cost (includes cutlery, charges, china, glassware, linens, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting)

$550 1/2 of our photography package

The total now would be $2670 and with 76 people it would come out to a new per person rate of $35.15.

I'm in Orange County California, so I'm very very happy that I was able to make it work for an amazing rate like that!

ETA:  I should note that the catering included won-tons with sweet chili sauce, tri-tip, bbq chicken, pasta bar, mashed potato bar with mushroom gravy, salad, and buns!  And the food was AMAZING!
