DATE PROBLEM: POLL PLEASE

Hello beatutiful ladies good morning . Ok so I go to the hall which we were going to book and did a walkthrough and was not in love with it. The actual hall was nice but i didnt like the wall decor and the whole vibe. Plus the grounds were not that maintained. Anyways that hall is out. So plan B, is to get married at the original hall I love. But our original date is/was Saturday November 30, Thanksgiving weekend.  The hall I love is taken saturday and has sunday and Friday available. I want to book it for Friday . Fi is thinking this day would suck for out of town guest who have to travel thanksgiving day and miss thanksgiving. :-( he wants sunday. But then I'm thinking people out of town would prob need to take off monday for travel. Ok long story short what day is better Friday after thanksgiving or Sunday?? HMMM

Are you absolutely set on Thanksgiving weekend, or is it possible to do it some time before or after?  The only reason why I say this is because doing it on a holiday weekend usually presents issues with travel anyway.

Good morning! Not sure how many of your guest would show up for a friday wedding being thanksgiving is the day before. So much is happen that weekend and everyone is visiting family.. etc. I agree with you FI, sunday is a better day and chance of more people coming. Or like moore807 was saying, you can't change it to the week before or after?

If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving then I think that Friday or Sunday would be okay. Do you shop on Black Friday every year? Or does a lot of your friends and family? I don't think that would be a huge issue but I know a lot of people who NEVER miss those sales. I would pick Sunday myself.

That's tough. I'm going against the grain because I love spending Thanksgiving with family, but Friday (usually off work) I have nothing else to do! A lot of my fam is fairly close though, so it's not a big travel weekend...I think you know your friends/family best. Sunday would be fine, but you're right that that would mean an extra day off, whereas Friday most -not all- but most already have off from work.

Good luck, I know it's hard sometiems to find the right date after changing! :)

This may sound strange but the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday so you may want to consider that when making your decision

Maybe make a Facebook page for it and have folks comment which they prefer! Could be fun! And also guests feel like they're participating in the planning process!

We decided on Sunday December 1st. most of our guest do not celebrate thanksgiviing for religious reasons. In regards to hotel most of the family that will come in town will stay with other family. Some of our atlanta relatives have summer homes here they can use so hopefully that will help avoid hotel fees.

I think you made the best choice! Most of our family would prefer not to have to travel to a wedding on Thanksgiving.
