David's Bridal Advice!

So my dear and best friend is getting married in October.  I learned a few things about David's Bridal during my bridesmaid experience there.  I thought I should share.

1. If the bride picks a color and allows all the bridesmaids to pick any dress in that color, this is the best way to go.  DB has tons of colors and a variety of styles.

2. Pick a dress what will not need alterations if at all possible.  You will be saving money.  If you are petite like me strapless might be the way to go.  Getting the top altered and a hem costs big bucks.

3. If the bride gets her dress from DB, the bridesmaids get discounts.  I saved $20 off of my dress.

4. If at all possible, pick a color that will allow a bridesmaid to wear the dress again.  I am so glad my friend picked truffle (dark brown).

5.  Go try on the dresses but you can buy online if you would like. Check out the outlet section and sale section online. Just be aware that in the outlet section, there are no returns.

6. When you are at a David's Bridal, ensure to check the color and stype at the clearance section.  They just might have something that is less expensive and does not have to be ordered.

7. Try to get your dresses altered somewhere else.  My sister was quoted way cheaper for alterations fro prom than at David's Bridal.

My dress but in Truffle (Dark Brown).

I know some ladies have had bad experiences with DB, but my BMs and I had a fantastic time; the ladies each found something they loved, and even though I didn't buy my dress there, it was easier to coordinate the tuxes from Men's Wearhouse AND I got a free photobook by using DB.

I got my dress from David's Bridal but my bridesmaids got there's from a boutique called Unique Lady.  You gave some really useful tips!  I didn't have them altar my dress either! Their prices are ridiculous and all I need is a hem because I am a petite bride.  In my experience, I chose to go to one of the smaller David's Bridal instead of the main one that has a larger selection.  I originally went to the Main Branch on a fluke with my FI and he helped me do everything!  They were so swamped that my consultant kept giving me the wrong size bra to try on and was never around to zip me up or help me take off my dress.  Customer service is a big plus with me and that experience had me never wanting to try David's Bridal again. The store not far away from my job is much more smaller and intimate, and my consultant gave me a great tip that aided me in keeping my dress.

We ordered our dresses from there at the end of September. We were told they would be in by the New Year. I was shocked when I got a call by October saying they had come in. My consultant was super helpful and has been there with any issue I had. My girls all loved their dresses (I just picked the color and let them do the rest) and have not had any issues with them! My one issue came when my dress arrived. It looked like it had been thrown into a bag and shipped. There were wrinkles everywhere! I have kept it hung up the past few months and most of them are gone. We just have to spot steam it the day of.

I got my dress at DB and all my girls did they same. Luckily they all fit so they didn't need to be altered, mine did.

I definitely went someplace else to get my dress altered- it turned out SO amazing!

My aunt bought her dress from DB and spent more altering it than on the actual dress!!  And if they screw it up.. they dont replace it.  Something to the effect that it is a seperate company and they are not responsible??  Even though they were in the store!
