Who has found a place where they could actually try on the dresses?
Please post about it here!
David's was the only place I came by, and they didn't have many at the one I went to, which is sad for them as they are supposedly like the Wal-Mart of bridal - you know, one stop shop for everyone.
Alfred Angelo (where I bought my dress) has dresses up to size 26-28. The best thing is, they don't charge extra for plus size, petite, or tall dresses!!!
I got mine from a consignment store. The dress I ended up with was a David's Bridal. However, the customer service was way better than David's Bridal. I got to try on the dress in my size. I took home the dress the same day, instead of waiting for months. And I saved money!
Good for you 2dbride!!! Any pics?
Pics, coming right up!
The only place I found was David's Bridal... I even tried a salon that carried alfred angelo-- and their largest sample size was a 12 :( So I only shopped at David's.
Oh thank god i'm not the only one. You guys understand my pain!! lol I have been feeling so crappy lately because I haven't been able to try any on. I don't want to buy a dress without trying it on first but at the same time I was supposed to have ordered my dress by last week so i'm kinda screwed. I have been looking for 3 months and have only been able to try on probably 5 dresses. I even went to indy cause there is a place there that has dresses up to size 28 so I would have for sure been able to try something on. I got there and they had gone out of business though so I didn't get to try anything on. :( The places here for the most part only have dresses that are size 16 and under, even davis bridal. It sucks. I found a place in south bend that sounds promising so i'll be making an appointment come monday. HOPEFULLY my fat a** can finally try on some dresses!! lol I am seriously thinking about starting my own plus size bridal business just cause this is rediculous!! lol
I second the Alfred Angelo designer, but check their website and see if they have a corporate store nearby, and not a salon that just carries their line. I drove 250 miles to one, and tried on about 10-12 dresses in size 22-26. Ordered it in May, and picked it up in August. Prices were reasonable as well
I don't have any pictures of me, but here's my dress.
As you see I tried on a bunch! Juliet's Bridal and Columbia Bridal Boutique...Maryland I thought they had a great selection to try on!
Thank you ladies for these thread. I have been trying to find more gowns to try on. I refuse to buy a dress that I havent tried. MrsAnderson I will be going to those two salons. I did however find a few at Francesca's
I definitely understand wanting to try on a dress before I bout the most important dress of my life. My dress was from a local place called Alicia's Bridal and I was able to try on 90% of the dresses there.
I also went to another local place called Belle Bridal and I was told I couldn't try on most of the dresses because I would stretch the samples out but we could just "Hold them up to you and get a little idea." I was like "...EXCUSE ME?!?!?!" I told them what I wanted and then they brought me exactly what I said I hated because I was told it was the only dress they had in my size. They told me I couldn't keep my 1 year old in his stroller and told me I had to take my shoes off. The after they made me take my son out of his stroller they complained about him not sitting still. Needless to say they whole experience pissed me off.
I went to Davids. Not only because it is the only "affordable" bridal salon around here (Lansing, Mi), but because they carry plus sizes IN STORE to try on.
There are a few smaller bridal salons here, and one is even compared to the "Kleinfelds" of the Mid-west.... but they only have like one of each dress, and you know it isn't going to fit a plus size bride!
I love this dress!
I went to David's Bridal, Alfred Angelo, Trudy's Bridal and GroupUSA. They all have plus size samples :)
I just called around to a bunch of different bridal salons and just asked them if they carried anything in over a size 20 to try on. I found a few in Los Angeles. I don't remember any of them, though. Just google bridal salon and your zipcode and go to the map and you'll get a bunch of different numbers to call.
Hello ladies, I found a few more places with plus size gowns. Also one what may have what you tried on for a more reasonable price.
There is a store here in Iowa that has bridal gowns in stock up to size 48...I'm confidant that there is something there for me :)
Destinctive Designs Bridals in Rockville, MD. I went there yesterday and they have a nice selection of dresses for Plus Size brides. They were the 3rd bridal salon that I've visited and I tried on 4 dresses where everywhere else I went I was only able to try on 1 or 2 tops.
They were REALLY nice to work with!
