*destination wedding/honeymoon: Punta Cana!

Hello ladies,

It's been a long long time since I have been on here and I was needing your help/advice. My girlfriend wants to get married and honeymoon in Punta Cana. Has anyone gotten married there? Or honeymooned there? Do you know how much it cost? We are thinking August - September wedding. Nothing too fancy just close friends and family.

Thanks!

I had my honey moon at the majestic colonial in Punta Cana. i LOVED it there!!! The areas where they hold weddings were also very beautiful. They had a church, a chapel, a beach alter and an aisle and gazebo in the garden area. Very beautiful. The rooms where great, food amazing, beach was paradise. I went at the end of September 2011. The resort was at 1/2 capacity as its out of season, so there was no waiting around for beach chairs, drinks etc...

We had a "swim up room" that was a stone throw from the swim up bar and the beach. Nothing better than walking out of your patio door and being in the water. perfection. Since we were on our honeymoon we got lots of extra complimentary treats such as a romantic dinner on the beach, champagne in our room, breakfast in bed, cake and treats brought to the room….a banner on our door that said “honeymooners” (I saw some that had “anniversary” and “just married and newly weds” as we walked the halls.

It wasn’t a huge “party” hotel – but that might have been when we were there. But the entertainment was great at all the different bars and clubs. We had the perfect mix of fun, quiet and romance.

Also I recommend the Spa catamaran if you decide to go off the resort. It was AMAZING. Massages on the open water and just a beautiful relaxing detoxifying day. The party boats are great as well, but I loved the spa.

You can some pics here  on my bio

Since it was off season it wasn’t crazy expensive either, considering what we had. There is also the majestic elegance which is a part of the same resort. This one is a bit more expensive and adult only. I know sometimes for destination weddings people will have there wedding at one then honeymoon at the other…

I loved every second of our honeymoon and would recommend it to anyone. ♥

We just returned from our honeymoon at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro...it was WONDERFUL!! Check out the tripadvisor.com reviews. It was adults only and very elegant, albeit on the pricey side, but totally worth it!! You can see pics on my Bio :)

I also had a friend get married at the same time at the nearby RIU Palace, she also loved it and said the wedding coordination was great but I don't have details on that. I understand that they are great at working with brides who are out of the country for the majority of the planning process.

Overall, I recommend Punta Cana for the wonderful weather and super friendly people, and I think you would be good at most of the resorts, just do your research and pick one that suits you (your friend!).

HTH!

We attended a wedding in Punta Cana in Nov 2011! Weather was beautiful and the boutique resort was wonderful-small, intimate and 3 restaurants on site serving organic food! Try Zoey Aqua, not sure of bridal package since I was a guest, but if memory serve me right, using a travel agent, we stayed 4 days for about $1800-1900pp, all inclusive.
