Did you get the full bride experience?

I just got a call from one of my bridesmaids and she was talking about my wedding and how fun it was...blah blah blah...then she said "Your MOH's both sucked!" I was shocked and asked why? She said "well neither of them threw you a shower or bachelorett party first of all! Second neither of them planned anything for the wedding weekend prior to the wedding and third they were both so into themselves it was never about you!" So I said well some of that is true but its ok and she said well they failed and I think you didnt have the true bride experience! Got me thinking.....maybe I didnt?!

So my question...

Do you feel like you had the full bride experience? If not what was lacking?

I feel like I didn't get the full experience, for several reasons.

1. I was underage, so I wasn't allowed into bars, or a lot of other places that would have been appropriate for a bachelorette party AND the honeymoon. So many hotels wouldn't let me stay just because of that! Blah! =[

2. We had the wedding in our backyard (which was WONDERFUL), but it restricted what we could do by a long shot. The reception couldn't go very late because of a neighborhood noise curfew, and the ceremony and reception had to be in the same space so I couldn't decorate like I wanted to fo the reception without it being there for the ceremony too.

3. We didn't hire any vendors. I loved this about our wedding and it was very important to me to make sure that EVERYONE involved was friend or family. However, I feel like I missed out on the experience of exploring options and doing taste tests and make up trials and all that good stuff. No regrets, it just would have been fun!

I don't think I had the experience I was expecting. Most of that I think is because for YEARS I've built up my wedding day. As our plans came together, guests that promised to be there couldn't come, people had dresses and flights and then didn't come. I really let it get to me.

Having said all of that, I wouldn't trade my bride experience for anything!! The things that went wrong, or things that I forgot, or the guests that didn't show, it means so little when I look back and think about how surrounded by love we were!

I actually regret not having the dress shopping experience. I found my dress and bought it when I wasn't 'looking' for a dress yet. I wish I would have had my Mom and sisters there and tried on some dresses that I hated. :-(

I felt my bridesmaids let me down a bit :/ I don't think about it much because maybe they just didn't know heir duties and I don't like asking for help either. My maid of honor planned a trip to Las Vegas but there was going to be some DJs she liked and I felt she planned it to what she wanted to do but I still had a blast!! My sister was matron of honor and she's not a planner so I practically took over my bridal shower...I was stressed because there were no games prepared and that was the ONE thing I asked my bridesmaids for help. I don't think I had the fullest bride experience with my bridal party but I did with my husband as far as going to the venues together, picking food, cake flavors ect.... so that makes up for it :)

Well I now that I think of it...I definitely did not either I guess!

All my BMs were in different states but one of my MOH and my mother both live in the same state and neither threw me a shower! I had no BP because the girls felt they were traveling to be with me at my wedding so that was enough! My girlfriends and cousins here did nothing for me either. I did have my feelings a bit hurt that the ones that were here close to me planned nothing for me. But DH's groomsman didnt do much for him either so I dont think he got the full groom experience either. I wouldnt change much about our day it was perfect for us and when we do our vow renewal....no wedding party just us and fun! lol

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you ladies :-/

While two of my BMs (my sister-in-law & BFF) and my MOH (my mother) were GREAT! One of my BMs (my cousin) was very irritating and borderline jealous through out my entire wedding weekend. She was single at the time, almost 40 years old, and a little bitter so she felt the need to be "difficult". She didn't even attend my bachelorette party or any dress fittings for the BM dresses and last but NOT least she complained about how "big" & family oriented my wedding was on my actual wedding day!!! Needless to say, we are no longer on speaking terms because I decided NOT to be a BM in her wedding this year after her immature actions before, during, and after my wedding.

What more can I say, you should treat others as you would like to be treated.

Great words to live by!  :)

I feel like I did, except for the dress shopping, though I did go dress shopping with my BMs, which was just as fun!  I wasn't expecting any showers or hen party, but I had two showers and a hen party.  So yes, I felt like I had the full experience, and I truly enjoyed it.

I became wedding obsessed for a year.  And after already being in one relationship I was totally convinced would end in marriage, and become bridethulu for nearly two years, my answer is hell to the yes.

And no, I didn't actually go dress shopping (bought mine, custom made, online) and there were lots of typical things we didn't do.  But I felt as though I had the entire bridal experience because I took total and complete ownership of it all.

Sometimes, not often, I miss planning.  But I was glad we dived headfirst into it and made the whole wedding a big splash.  It was 21 months of planning and waiting, but man was it beyond worth it all.

My BM's are all over the states so it was just me and a close girlfriend and our male roommate to pick out my dress. I won't get any parties or anything so I will be missing out on a lot.

Yes and no.  I had a shower, but thanks to my MOH it was poorly planned, I ended up doing my own decorating, games, etc.  =(  I didn't get a bacherlorette party, =(.  I didn't get pampered like I should have and was stressed the day of the wedding.  =(

I did get the venue I envisioned but didn't get it decorated like I wanted.  =(

My reception was ok, not 100% like I wanted but hey you know.

I married a great guy, had a pretty dress and didn't spend the gross national product of a third world country or go into debt for one day that most people won't remember anyway so I am happy for the most part.
