Different name change idea...

My dear fiance and I have been trying to figure out what to do with my last name ect when we tie the knot in June. The problem is that we both really like the idea of me keeping my own last name but I still really want to honor my soon-to-be husband and incorporate him into my name. My last name holds a lot of family history for me (My family is from Belgium) whereas my middle name is not as meaningful. We thought about making my last name (or his even) my new middle name but neither lends itself very well to that (we both have uber long last names).

So here's my question: Would it be totally weird to take the feminine form of my hubby's first name (his name is Leon, so it would be Leona) as my new middle name? I know it's a little odd and would certainly be a more private, subtle change, but something about it feels right to me...

What do to girls think?

I think it is all about what feels right to you. If that is meaningful to both you and your FI, go for it!

my mom had the same issue....
Her maiden name was Tyra Denise Rose.
When she married she became Tyra Rose Weis.

she just dropped her middle name completly and replaced it with her maiden name. she also gave me her maiden name as a middle name and I'll do the same with my daughter.

That's a nice idea lillibelle but your mom's maiden name is actually a first name. Doesn't work for me, my last name is a long, Belgian name that sounds very much like a last name. I'm trying to see whether the different idea posted above is a good idea. If it were that simple for me I would do what your mom did but it's not : )
