Disagreements during wedding planning?

Did you and your FI/DH have disagreements during wedding planning? What was the disagreement about?

For us, we the only thing we disagreed about was the cost. I admit in the beginning I wanted my "dream" wedding, except it takes a lot of money to get that dream wedding. :) DH definitely did not agree with the amount of money we were spending.

We had a similar problem with the cost. I was shocked to see how much it cost to plan a wedding in the area. In the end we had a great time and it was worth it.

We had disagreements about hiring a videographer, the amount of guests my parents were allowed, and the financing "break-down" (i.e. who pays what).

We agreed to forgo a videographer in order to get the photog we wanted We initially compromised with a "ceremony only" plan, but our photog took up our whole media budget. My parents were allowed a certain number of guests (as long as we stayed under max capacity overall) because we agreed that they would pay for at least half the wedding - the compromise for the last two arguments.

Essentially, all issues have been with costs. It's been hard trying to fight the fight for both my parents and myself, but thankfully we got through those major battles.

Sadly...making him realize some of his ideas were cheesey and honeymoon destination. But they haven't been fights, more like me getting frustrated that he doesn't see my vision sometimes. That's what I get for asking him to be involved.

We didn't have fights on the cost. A little bit on the guest list because he would want to invite people that he didn't keep in touch with. We did have one disagreement where he invited someone after the RSVP due date. I told DH that the guy will know because it's past the RSVP date. Well, the person replied that he was coming but ended up being a No-show.

Overall there were a lot of stresses that came with the planning. I remember fighting a lot more before the wedding than after the wedding. When we went to pick up our invitations, we got into a fight. He bumped into one of his friends, who asked him what he was doing here & where I was. He told her that we were here to pick up our wedding invitations and he didn't know where I was because I was mad at him. Doesn't that sound great to your wedding guests?

Mainly the cost thing. When we started adding up the costs, Joe got a big unhappy about the totals. So we're trying to not spend too much on the flowers, invites, cake, and favors.

Someone had asked me this question recently...and I was a bit surprised about the question cause we haven't had any arguments. I can say though that FI was not happy about the cost. In fact, he prefers not to hear the cost of services and vendors cause he thinks it's ridiculously outraegous. But is okay with it cause he wants me to have my "dream wedding"..so sweet. I am pretty much planning the whole wedding and have selected all the vendors. As long as I don't go crazy and stay somewhat within the budget (which has almost doubled), it's all good. ;)

DH and I didn't have any disagreements during wedding planning because everything I asked him about, he was like: "Whatever you want, baby!" I don't know if that was good or not because I wanted his opinion, but after booking a few vendors I just gave up asking him! =p

We have had at least two huge argmuments about the wedding in the 5 weeks we've been engaged LOL. I can't remember what they were about, probably something silly. We're both stubborn and hot-headed but things are going more smoothly with planning now :~)

It's funny to hear how many grooms are upset about escalating costs. I feel like I'm losing in a battle to save money.

I've had the same experience as mrsbabysalute.....no problems or fights. I gave my FI a list of things he needed to do before the wedding (15 things) thinking it would take him the rest of the month (wedding is Sept 1), and he finished them all within a week......now that I see how efficient he is, I'll have to add a few more things ;0)

we haven't had any disagreements so far *fingers crosses*, and i hope it stays that way. =) we're both really laid-back, and we didn't have any set ideas in mind, so that's made everything a lot easier.

the money thing is just crazy though. i never imagined how much all of this would cost, especially the photographer and florist. eeks! who knew?!

Yeah TC, it's crazy how much these things cost. Just to feed people in a building went beyond what I thought a wedding would cost. But after some research, I realized it's a good price for what we're getting. Now just to save on other parts!
