Disney Wedding

I am upset with Disney right now being a Bridezilla and venting.

I just had a planning session with Disney for my wedding and I was told that a lot of my prices for food and beverages went up. One of them being bar prices original price 23 per person now $ 32 per person and for 160 + people that a Big change. The explanation they gave me is that the packet they gave me when I went for my first encounter with them was not updated and that I should have received a new one AFTER I signed the contract. It makes me very mad and think that if I would have seen the new prices before  I signed the contract I would  have changed my mind about having it there. I am not having the experience I thought I would be getting with Disney especially for the price I am paying :-( and I am not even going to get the things that I thought I was going to afford now. I just hope I feel different the day of my wedding and not think about the things they have done so far. Sorry its a long post.

Did you sign the contract at the other price???  They better honor that then!

I agree with HMM. Look over you contract and check what pricing they gave you. My venue had also given me there old price list, but the coordinator mentioned that the food pricings needed to be updated ($2 more). Not a big change, but it's good to know! So check and if you signed at the old price then bring it to their attention and they will have to honor it.

most of the contracts we reviewed had something in there that said "prices may vary" and if so....that's basically saying you're stuck....unless you can plead for mercy...even our venue had that in the contract we signed...but she also told me that they had just updated their menus and were not expecting any changes this next year....but still....nothing surprises me....and i won't be shocked if they go up a bit...sorry marii!!

I am sorry. They quoted you that price so you should be getting it! That is not a good move on Disneys behalf. I hope you get it!

I'm sorry they are doing this but if the price is listed on your contract (which it should be) they have a legal obligation to do everything for that price and if they refuse to they are in breach of the contract!!! And you have the right to a refund and to get out of the contract and if you still want your wedding done at Disney then contact a lawyer who will tell them they must honor their contract price or there will be legal action taken against them!!!!!!!

I am going to read the contract again more carefully. I hope this is it with the price change like the planner said. I did save the email incase I have to get legal advice, but that would be the last thing I want to think about. It really helps to get feedback and just be able to vent my frustration keeps me feeling sane hehe. I have to remind myself this is a great time in your life just keep smiling. Go Brides Go !

Actually, I have dealt with Walt Disney World for several private events.  I can't speak for Disneyland but WDW does send out contracts that are very basic and broad.  Unless you "beef" up the contract to your liking, they can try to pull this over on you.  And of course they will do the good ol' "This change in policy is coming from higher up and we have no control over it."  That is when you pull out big guns and you speak with the higher ups and negoitate.  It can be done but you really have to be ready not to take no for an answer.

And as for locking in the pricing, you should have received a proposed budget?

Good luck!
