I'm thinking to make a DIY seashell / beach themed cake topper. Has any done a DIY cake topper? Any recommendations???
Laurasweet just did a fab one. its one the main forumn board still
It is adorable! I did comment to her to see if she can give me some tips;) Thank you!
I didn't make a topper but I did make lots of shell things! I got my cake topper from placing an etsy alchemy and thought they did a great job! It didn;t brake the bank too at under $40.
One tip though...you don't want it to be too heavy so you may want to consider the base be some kind of foam if you are going to glue shells to it. Too many shells will weigh it down a bit!
Good luck! Can't wait to see pics!
aw dreamin that is adorable!
thanks Miriam!!! :-)
Thank you for the tips and your topper is adorable! We are staying away from sea horses though unfortunately..used as a theme in a family wedding that just resulted in divorce. But...the foam tip is great! And despite the family stuff...your topper really is adorable.
Dreamn - did hot glue hold all your shell bouqets together???? Or what did you use to "stick" them?
hot glue was all and it stays beautifully!
Yay! Thank you dreamin.
I can't wait to see what you come up with deborah! I love diy projects, unfortunately I'm not very patient and end up rushing projects. I think I'll probably just buy a cake topper on etsy or from one of you very creative PW girls.
Plus, if it's shell/beach themed, I really can't wait to see it.
Thanks Chanel! I'll definitely post pics
