I would say take out the babys breath all together. Without them they look more simple and therefore more elegant! Are those marbles or coffee beans on the bottom?

I agree with taking out the baby's breath. Just remember that less is more, and sometimes when there is to much you just dont know where to look. i think they are very pretty, I would just take out the babies breath and they would look stunning!

Your stems just need to be trimmed.  I would stick to just the roses, with a small amount of baby's breath to fill it out.  Maybe consider using some greenery as well.

It is quite possible to make "grocery store" flowers into nice arrangements.  I'm a funeral director, I know.  Haha.  So many people come in and expect me to make their bunch of flowers into an arrangement.

Look at some pictures of arrangements too, that helps :)

I think the arrangement looks a bit uneven. What kind of shape are you going for? I would trim the stems so that they are either even, or that you get the shape that you are going for.

you also need to keep in mind if your centerpieces are too tall & full, it'll block conversation.  I know my FI absolutely hates tall centerpieces, especially the ones where it's as tall as one's head when sitting.  You can't see the people across from you or you'd have to lean to one side to talk to them.  so, our centerpiece is going to be low -- a oval shaped "fishbowl" filled with orchids, acrylic ice and floating candles.

I created DIY centerpieces on my blog for right around $8 a centerpiece if you want to check it out. It was a pretty similar concept as yours.

I know you already have a lot of opinions ... so here is my 2 cents ...

- great start!

- add more roses

- might even look nice with orange (or yellow) rocks at the bottom, instead of the neutral color ...
