DIY decor - pic heavy

I’ve started working on the decor… We have a retro-disco theme so we are doing blinged silver bottles and jars.

It’s quite the money-saver since all the bottles and jars are coming completely free from used bottles and jars from family, friends and also from several restaurants (if you ask them, they are happy to give you all the used bottles they have and will throw anyway)

First I soak them in hot water and soap to clean and help remove the labels.

Put tape were I whant the glitter to stop

Then I put glue on them and quickly run them in glitter. The bottles I spray them with silver paint and “drizzle” some glitter before it sets.

Ready!

This is the idea so far… Big and small bottles with some baby’s breath and a jar with a whitw ribbon and a candle!

So what do you think?

Thanks Tressy!

ellewinfrey: Yes I used silver paint!

I figured I will need at least 150 of each so I have my work cut out!

Julie you could definitely do this as holiday decor! The pic don't show how sparcly it realy is!

Pavez when I made the first one I showed it to my father and he said: And how much did you buy this for? hahaha

Uhlese loved your white ones! Mine wll be all kinds of shapes since I use only what I can get for free because I will need atleast 150 of each (aka 150 big bottles, 150 small bottles, 150 jars) (OMG I will never finish!!!)

Hi,

I am new to the boards and consult DIY for weddings and have a website, and now while planning my own wedding.  It is very new so not all my projects that I have done for wedding/wedding planning aren't even up yet.  You did a great job!  Wine bottles and mason jars are so versatile for reception and even ceremony decor.  I have seen beautiful results with wine bottles...! in particular is painting them glossy white then stuffed with babys breath too and little white flower garlands between them.  That would be beautiful for the holidays!  The silver and the glitter is awesome...shiny with some texture =bling is always good.

What kind of glue did you use? Did it use more glitter then you thought?

Thanks ladies!

ringomort I whent to a store that sells building materials ang got a general use glue caled "unistik". It is a general use glue wich can also have good resolds on glass. But from what I read, you can also use mod podge.

Actualy I thought I would need much more glitter than I really do! So far I made almost 90 jars and 80 big botles and 40 small ones with about 600g, more or less, glitter.
