DIY DYED DOLLAR ROSE PETALS FROM DOLLAR TREE

Here are the directions:

Buy 300 pack dollar rose petals from Dollar Tree or where ever you can find them

Here are the directions photo 332910-1

Fill a big pot with hot water and place on the stove

Here are the directions photo 332910-2

Then take Rit Dye(from most craft stores)....whatever color you want.if you want a custom color go on Rit's website and see how to mix two of their colors to make a special color like I did (Coral)

Here are the directions photo 332910-3

Put the dye in the warm/hot water(if you want put the burner on low for like 10 min into the process to make the dye dissolve the best...start pouring the petals in

Here are the directions photo 332910-4

I put about 1,500 in a pot this size..just keep mashing them down

Let them soak for a while and randomly stir and kinda flip petals up from the bottom so the top ones can get down a soak.

keep in mind they will be a bit darker when wet so make sure you obtain the color you want by taking something(like a color swatch) and put it next to it to see if you have gotten the right shade yet.

When you have take the pot of petals and pour water out into a strainer or direction in a side of the sink.  Eventually let all the petals go in the sink so you can squeeze the excess water out...run them under warm water and eventually cold.  Get all the excess water and dye out until they run clear

The moment I say your first note about buying the petals and dying them I googled dollar tree, went to my nearest one and bought 1 pack. Today I finally got a chance to try it and It looks like they are working. Yes the petals are a bit frayed, but I will go at a few of the bad ones with scissors to smooth them out. I only need 1200 petals for the vases in my centerpieces so that is 4 bags. Which is $4.00 plus the $6.00 I spent on wine and navy blue ink (I had to buy the bottles, not the box). So $10 for petals is better than the $300 the florist was going to charge me. This is where it is at. I have to go out for St. Patty's day in 2 hours so I don't have time to take photos and post. But I will tomorrow. Thanks so much DJ!! This is helping me cover the expense of buying rhinestones by the yard at hobby lobby to get the bling on my centerpieces. I can't wait until it is all complete so I can share my beautiful center pieces. You all will love them.

Love this! I've heard success stories about dying Dollar Tree petals over and over! I suppose this is something I really should do! :)

And I love the idea of dying them ivory... to make them look a bit more real

dj did a great job...but fyi...all the wedding stuff (including petals) are 50% off at Hobby Lobby....i ended up getting two boxes there today...of ivory colored ones....

i guess it also depends on your sitch..and how many you need...i just need them for my cake table...to make a "bed" for my black wooden "AMORE" letters....
