DIY Invites

So I had my invites all mocked up at MyGatsby.com and then I started looking at the DIY invites on the boards and got totally inspired, especially the recent post by Chica. Have alot of you guys done your own? If I buy them online the cost will be about $400 and I know making them would be cheaper.

I want pocket-fold invitations with about 4 inserts and I'm totally afraid that figuring out the printer settings and PPT or Word settings to print the different sizes will be too much for me!

Is this do-able??

It's doable, but I will admit, it took me a lot of effort and time.  You need a large group of people to help you assemble.  However, I was happy that I was able to customize it.  You can also get a printer to do the inserts and put together the pocketfolds or visa versa.

i think almost anything is doable - you just have to have time time time time time time to do it - and be realistic with what you can do within that time frame - and be honest with yourself about how much help you can get from others...  planning is supposed to be fun - not a dreadful task :)

i weighed the cost of myjean.com invites versus doing them myself... hands down i'm paying for the convenience of not doing those suckas myself... i'm going to have them printed, have my envelopes' return address printed and have them assembled...  i'll probably add a little crystals or something, but theyre doing the bulk of the work b/c i'm lazy (have i mentioned this before?? haha) and i dont want to do them...

Its completely doable!  I designed, created and assembled our invites...I'm suppose to be stuffing the envelopes as I type...lol!

Calculating the sizes really isn't too difficult.  It takes time, but it is worth it.  I spent time making little mock-ups with regular print paper just so I could get an idea of the size, font, and overall appearance.  I ordered my pocket folds and paper from www.cardsandpockets.com.  If you want, check out my bio or PM if you have questions.  I'm always more than happy to help :)

You can so do your own, we did. We bought the pocketfolds from cardsandpockets.com and the invitation paper from papersandmore.com. I have to admit as well it was very TIME consuming. I was up till 3am doing them, but the end result was so worth the racoon eyes:) Here are ours

I think I'm going to buy the pockets from cardsandpockets.com and make the main page that attaches to the pocketfold, then have mygatsby.com print the enclosures, I'm too chicken to try and do the enclosures too :)

Then I'll figure out how I want to embellish the pocketfold....thanks for all the help ladies!!

STBaMiller, the font is "Saffron too."  I think I got it at www.dafonts.com.  Just google the font and it should come up.  P.S. I love you invites, they're very pretty!
