Does everyone buy the first dress they try on?

Ok, so this makes me a little nervous.  I haven't tried any dresses on yet, but lots of people that I know bought the first dress they ever tried (my aunt, my friend, some PW girls, my grandma).  I am beginning to think it's because it's the dress that FIRST makes them feel like a bride, and therefore they always keep going back to it.  What happened with everyone, and what advice do you have on dress shopping?

I went a a bridal store and tried on a bunch. There was one I really liked except I wanted Ivory and this one was really stark white. So I ended up with another dress(I went in twice before buying). Then one of the gals on here told me about a bridal store near me that was going out of business(this was about 2 days after I placed the order on the other dress) and I ran down to the store and tried on a beautiful Paloma Blanca dress that was just "me". No bells and whistles. Just a simply, elegant gown. And it was only $400. So I bought it. And the first dress has been sitting in the closet. The first store wouldn't cancel my order.  I have it listed on Preownedweddingdresses.com but I've only gotten a few serious inquiries. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it;-)

I didn't buy the first dress I tried on, I tried like 4 or 5, but I did buy it from the first bridal store I went to.

No. Definitely not. I have tried on multiple dresses at multiple stores, and I have yet to make a decision. I never thought this was going to be this difficult.  Most my other decisions have been easy, but the dress has brought me much anxiety.

2nd one I tried on at the second salon I went to. BUT, it felt like the first place I went since the first one was a few weeks after getting engaged, it didn't really count

Uh....I tried on a bunch.  Something like 14, lol!  I loved the dress I bought, but I didn't have that "moment."  I think its because the sample was not exactly what I had dreamed of.  I made a few customizations to it.  After the alterations, I LOVE IT!

I knew as soon as I saw a picture of my dress it was the dress for me! I went to the salon and brought the picture to show. I tried on 40 dresses that were similar but not the one. I finally just ordered the dress from the picture online.. it came and was perfect!

It was the first dress I tried on in the second store. The first store was a nightmare. I knew it was the one when my mother and I both started crying immediately. Now, of course, I'm considering becoming a two-dress bride since the dress of my dreams doesn't seem made for dancing, and I want to be c-o-m-f-o-r-t-a-b-l-e when I'm on the dance floor!

My dress was actually the second to last dress I tried on, at the last salon I went to. It was down to two dresses that I loved. I actually forgot what the dress looked like on me until I tried it at again at my first fitting over the weekend!

Well I have liked almost ALL of the gowns I have tried on so I have just been keeping track of what I liked about the gown. Then it makes it easier to make my own.

Oh good Lord no.  I believe I went to a half dozen stores, scoured magazines for over a year and tried on literally 40 or 50 gowns before I chose.

Ot's going to be different for everyone.  Some people will just *know* right away if it's the right one, and others need to try diffferent styles, sihouettes, etc.. to find IT.

let's see i went to 6 bridal salons, and tried on about 6-8 at each place.  i never had the moment but i do feel comfortable in the dress, like it a whole lot, and feel like it's "me."  i ended up with a dress i tried on at the third store i went to, the fifth one there. (after i went back a second time)

You ladies are too funny - "first dress at the second salon" - you kept good track!!  So I guess I'll just wait for that "moment."  It's fun to read everyones story!
