Does your cat beg for scraps??

Both of my cats are very interested whenever someone is eating, but the one pushes against your arms, legs, whatever she can reach to get at your food. Initially, it wasn't so horrible, but now it's gotten to the point where she's pushing so hard, we're spilling stuff, or we have to lock her in the other room.

It's not just like she's after dairy or turkey or fish - y'know, things cats like...

She was eating CHEETOS today, and the other day she started snacking on DH's french fries. Really??

How do I break her of this?? We yell at her to get down, or like I said, put her in the other room, but then I feel so bad :(

I am totally guilty of the same thing...but DON'T GIVE IN!!! The problem is that while most of the time you may push her away, you are still allowing it sometimes so she is just going to try even harder to get what she wants.

Another thing you may consider...I had a squirt bottle that I carried with me everywhere. I HATED having to use it but I felt better about squirting them with water than spanking them. Anything they did that they weren't supposed to do - SQUIRT! Worked like a charm....

Ditto the squirt bottle. Spray him/her right in the face. It's kind of mean, but it'll work to the point where all you'll have to do it pick up the squirt bottle and he/she will back off.

Also, never ever give table scraps or any people food. Even a little crumb will make her think that she'll allowed that food. Plus, it's very very unhealthy for them and given enough, it can shut down their pancreas and other bad side effects.
