Dog Shampoo

Any suggestions on a dog shampoo for itchy, flaky skin? My poor Boston Terrier has dry, itchy skin over the winter and she is flaking everywhere.

I was told not to buy over the counter dog shampoo because its honestly not good for them. My friend (who is has worked in a Vet's office for YEARS) told me to use Johnson's and Johnson's Baby Shampoo...

My little guy has dry skin in the winter too apparently... I am not sure what to do about it.

Any Oatmeal based shampoo would be good to use. We use Mane n tail on our dogs. It's used on horses. We use the shampoo and the conditioner. It's cheap, it smells great, and it really works.

A great option that's generally sold by veterinarians is Malaseb or Malaket hypo-allergenic shampoo.  I have a shep with really really sensitive skin who is also on anti-histamines 2x a day so I bathe him with this to avoid any additional discomfort.  Another option is to try Aveno baby which has a great formula for dry skin and safe for pups and/or to give the lil guy some fish oil pills with his meal- really helpful for dry skin and creates a beautiful coat!  Good luck!

I use a local soapmakers doggie shampoo (go local businesses!) But you might want to ask the vet what they reccomemnd in case there is an allergy effect his skin. Ony b/c I have an anti-histime wash that I got from the vet when little man had a reaction to a bug bite.

I tried the oatmeal and so far it seems to be really helping. We haven't had too much cold weather the past 2 weeks, but it did get cold for a little while.
