Dress drama!! Please help!! :(

Hi ladies,

congratulations to you all! I'm hoping you can give me some advice. I purchased (put 50% deposit) my dress a few months earlier. It arrived last month and I was really happy with it but could t help have a little niggle that it made me look a bit frumpy. That niggle has kind of grown and grown so much so that I have been lookin at wedding dress shops ( sure that's not normal if you are completely happy). Well today I foun the most incredible dress that made me feel beautiful and a little bit sexy which I exactly what I wanted. I called my mum but she won't even hear what I have to say. I get it as she is the one paying for it. I'm worried now though that I'm going to settle for a dress that doesn't make me feel great. I'm sure you lovely ladies may be able to offer me some advice. I'm going to try and attach pics of my dress and the dress I saw today.

thanks in advance :)

Do you have a pic you can post?

I think we all questioned our dress at some point, I know I did. My advice is to try her on again, add a veil and some jewelry, wear your shoes if you have them (if not try it on with shoes you like for now!) Dress her up so you can envision what she's going to look like. Not sexy enough? Ask a seamstress if they can add a sweetheart neckline or maybe do something with the back to make it lower. Maybe even some embellishments would help, buttons down the back or a sparkly belt. You loved her once, it’s time to get that back!

Why did you buy the first dress? was it beacause you wanted it or because mom, friends, grandma said you look good in it? Like Nicole said maybe with a few tweaks you can fall in,ove with it again. If not then maybe you can try to sell it and get the new one.

I would agree with both ladies - we all have 2nd thoughts about our dress, that's completely normal but I think in most cases you have to try your dress on and remind yourself why you chose it to begin with. And there are lots of ways to add sexy and your own personal touches to your dress.

However, if you were pressured to buy a dress that you weren't sure of, you shouldn't feel bad about finding a way to get what you really want, within reason since someone else is paying :)

I'm trying to upload them of an iPhone but having a little difficulty. The original dress has a beautiful back. I can add the link to it instead http://www.bcouture.ie/wedding-dresses/sale-item.php?id=519&category_id=8

i am a size 8 so it is quite fitted but I think the niggle is I would have preferred a fish tail ( more flattering I think to my figure type). The dress I tried today is brand new, I can't even seem to find it on the designers page but will try and fine a link to the dress.

thanks for your advice ladies xxx

Agreed, the first dress is gorgeous!!!! I think you need to try her on and accessorize her (and then take tons of pictures so we can all see!)

Thanks ladies! That isn't the Nellie dress. Nellie is completely bare on the back, mermaid dress. I've searches for photos but no joy. The dress shop told me she is brand new for 2014, so maybe that's why there aren't any pics online yet. I wish I hadn't gone to the shop now! I'm very lucky to already have such a beautiful dress! I'm going to London on business tomorrow but just as soon as I can ill upload the pics of me in both dresses for you to see. Thankyou all again. :) xxx

I really don't understand how someone can pick a gown and then months later decide it's not them. I watched "Say Yes to The Dress" for months, plus I searched websites and magazines to get an idea of what I liked AND what would look good on me for my body type. I think the mistake we brides make is (1) take too many people with different opinions (2) try to please everyone instead of our selves (3) get too caught up in the wedding thing. People don't believe me when I say I went to ONE shop and spoke to the salesperson. I told her what my gown absolutely had to have, I told her my price range, and I showed her pictures. Believe it or not, ONE store, and I tried on FOUR gowns. I fell in love with the third gown. I tried on the fourth one, because it was the one I picked and just knew IT was the one. The moment I tried on the third gown, before I knew it, tears were running down my face. I tried on the 4th gown and liked it, but when I put the third gown back on, the tears started again! I've literally looked at hundreds of gowns since then, and I know I chose the perfect gown for me! It was just me and my coworker. She let me make the decision. I later found out she loved the gown I chose. She told a friend of mine that the gown I chose was the prettiest and looked better on me than the others. You have to know your body type. Not every style is meant for every person. A short person cannot wear what a tall person can. A tall slender or shapely person can wear almost anything. The next thing to remember is not to look at gowns that are out of your price range! You will get into trouble every time!

I'm quite lucky I think because the dress I bought probably looks much better on a taller more slender person. I'm 5ft 8 and a uk size 8. When I chose it I was actually just with my mum. I tried her on again last night, put some makeup on and did my hair, wore my shows etc and I feel so much better. The lady who owns the shop I bought my dress from knows me personally and actually lent me a dress. I'm already married, my husband and me got married very quickly as he was diagnosed with cancer and the outlook wasn't so good. He is getting much better now and we have decided to re new our vows and have te big wedding that we didn't have. My mum organised our wedding in 6 days bless her. Thanks for all the advic ladies. I'm not going to think about Nellie anymore because I did feel beautiful last night in my dress and I think it is a little classier than Nellie. Ill try and put a pic on for you. Thanks all xxxx
