Dress is here, not complete....

My dress arrived!!! yay!! so excited!!! yay!!!!   Oooo pretty!!!!  wait........ why is there a whole section of beads missing.......wait....... why is the ruching not stiched in to the seams on one side...... wth........

Yup, dress is here, and yea it's great quality work, it seems that they just rushed it out the door and didn't pay attention to details or the instructions discussed for the custom order...

My dress arrived yay photo 1922677-1

My dress arrived yay photo 1922677-2

My dress arrived yay photo 1922677-3

This picture shows it all, the beads were supposed to be double what is shown and extend around to the back of the dress.  The ruching is not tacked down and sewn into the seam like it should be and like it is on the other side... so it just kind of puckers out weird and needs constant adjustment....

I have a dispute in with them already, they admitted they did not do the extra beading but offered no fix to the problem... and they dont understand what I mean when I say "ruching" "stitched into side seam" so I sent more pictures and tried to describe a little better for them... guess we'll see what happens but as of now, it's gonna need a seamstress' hand to fix...

Oh yea and it's tooo big, and it's a corset lace up back! We tied it all the way closed and I still had room and was falling out of it.... ugh.....what to do?

the rouching was the same on the mother of the groom dress I bought! It made things look so unflattering!!!! ugh! and her sizes were wayyyy too small. =[ I'm really sorry this happened to you. I was hoping I would be the only bad story. My dress to take in length wise was $150 and to add a bustle. =/ that's over half the dress cost!

It's beautiful even though it's not what you were hoping for!  I ordered a swatch of fabric from Dressily and I got someone else's ivory sashes with a bow.  Not at all what I ordered, someone out there is really upset they got a piece of pink fabric instead of their sashes!

That's funny, when I ordered my swatches I got someone's entire dress! That was a mess!

Okay, I'm starting to not like what I'm reading about them. I thought they might be a great alternative to MB, but now I'm just convinced that ordering a dress from any of the chinese dressmakers (or any overseas dressmaker) is just a total crapshoot. I will never take the chance again. I know there is always that chance you might get an awesome deal and a gorgeous dress but htis is just too much stress and drama to associate with your wedding! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I say keep pressing them and let them know if they don't fix this you'll warn brides on every forum about them making this mistake and not fixing it...and that's AFTER you had to sort out the fact that they sent you someone's entire dress by mistake at the beginning of this process.

If you paid with paypal, start a dispute right away so you are still within the time frame allowed. You can close it if they fix the problem, but you need to start the dispute process within the timeframe to be covered!

Thanks 2010bride2bee. I emailed them today and asked what is going to be done to fix this, If I don't hear from them by tomorrow I will open a dispute with PayPal.

I like the dress, i just wish those 2 things were done... and it was a size smaller....

I agree 2010, I was looking at Dressily for a TTD dress, but I am having second thoughts.  I have seen awesome work that they have done, but I am starting to hear negative things as well.  I know it's all subjective to the person who is getting the dress' opinion, but all the shipping screw ups and dress screw ups are making me anxious.

I may still use them, luckily I still have a lot of time to watch and see how they are going.  If they start going the route of Milly, I will not buy from them.

I do wonder if the dress fit you properly if the ruching would straighten out on it's own. Once the dress is pulled tighter against you and after it has been pressed, that part my work itself out. It's so hard to tell when it's loose. The beading unfinished isn't acceptable though, especially when they admit to it. And, I don't like the way they are handling Ally's issues either.

hey ladies, just stop for a moment. i know its not right what happend on the post starter and dressilyme have to fix that. But i have buyed 3 dresses from china fabrics and only the milly dress was ugly and bad quality. i ordered my first one from landybridal and it was awesome right from a drawing i made for them! i gave it yesterday to a second hand bridal shop and she was very impressed with the quality and fabric, beading etc. ( and i didn`t said that the dress is from china).

my third dress was from dressilyme and i wore it to my wedding. it was great quality and very comfortable. i also have had to fix some things, for example it was to wide on the bust sides and on the neckline she had to sew it once again to be perfect. But if you have a good seamstress this is no problem i paid only 60 dollars for that service.

think always on what you save that way. it can be hard and stressfull but in the end you can spend money on every other thing from your wedding. I am thankfull that my dress was so georgous and i never would change my mind about china dresses.

to the post starter: i`m really sorry your dress did not arrive as you expected. But find a very good seamstress and get this things fixed. you will love your dress once it fits you perfect. i know what i say.

I`m still so impressed with the dresses they made/make and hope every bride will get a perfect dress. But you always have to consider that the dresses made by a description and pictures, all this online and oversea and you can`t expect that you get a 100% replica of the dress. Better you dont have a extrem exactly imagination/expectation of your dress, otherwise you get disappointed. they made the dresses only ca. 90% of what it looks like in the original. I`ve only heard about one or two ladies who got their dress and it was perfect without any change.

and dont forget; i am there to help you. I ordered 3 wedding dresses and 4 evening dresses from china and was always impressed. i know about 4 factorys which are very good.

I have to agree with Bride1986... while it's a little more difficult to deal with, thanks to distance and language barriers, we hear horror stories about companies right here in the US; wrong colors ordered, wrong sizes ordered, alterations making a mess of the dress, the dress not arriving on time.... I still love love love my dress, I plan on ordering my bridesmaids dresses from Dressily. Sure, there's a chance something might get a bit mixed up, but I don't think ordering locally is completely risk free either. I think Dressily has a way better track record than Milly at this point.

Now, of course, that being said, I absolutely think you need to do everything you can to get things fixed. Open a dispute, if needed, see if there's anything you can work out with them.

Definitely open a dispute to get them to fix your dress and address your unhappiness about how it was sent to you incomplete.

I love my BM dresses from Dressilyme and will be ordering my Reception dress from them. I had a horrific experience here in Cali at 2 bridal salons who were definitely trying to rip me off, so Dressilyme was an amazing experience for me.

I'm sorry that you and Allyswell didn't have great experiences with them and I think its great that we can share our happiness and disappointment here on this forum. In the end the information posted on this group forum helps the other PW brides on deciding whether to go with Dressilyme or Milly.

Yes, but the problem with this case and with Ally is that in both accounts they have made mistakes and are not taking any responsibility for them. They do not offer any resolution and that's not acceptable.

the only resolution they gave was to get 20% off a new dress. though they said I could send my dress back to them and pay shipping and they'd fix it. uggh. no thanks. I don't think the dress fitting would fix the rouching not being tacked down either... it's the same on the MOG dress i got... and that's too tight.

They offered me either:

a.) Mail the extra beading piece to me for no charge

OR

b.) Refund $20 to my Paypal account

I think I'll take the $20 and not chance ever receiving the beads or them being totally different than the exsisting...  I'm still waiting on my Milly dress which is supposed to be finished up this week so then I'll decide which one to wear and possibly have to have tailored.

Ally- I hope you can figure out something with them, I just remained polite and sent my tailor's quote to them to show how much more it would cost to fix and his advice NOT to iron the ruching down on the delicate fabric... At least I got something back from them...

Oh and they do take pictures of the dress before shipping it out, why they won't send these to their clients is I guess so they don't have to fix anything... She sent me these to show how the ruching looked at their warehouse before shipment...Of course they didn't take side angle shots....

Oh and they do photo 1936362-1Oh and they do photo 1936362-2

It looks not too bad on the manequin. You can try to simply sew the waist and hip smaller (not need to tuck down the rouching) at home first, and see if the rouching stays nice when the dress really fits you. If this works, then send it to the tailor. It can reduce the alteration cost and save the nice dress. Good luck on your Milly dress anyway.

Your dress is beautiful. I think all you would need to do is take it to a seamstress. If you had kindly asked to see pictures of some detail before they shipped it out to you I'm sure they would have taken care of you.

I think the dress is very lovely. I love the ruching at the top and I hope that it turned out for you. Could you share what fabric is this made out of? I'm considering ordering a dress from them.

Having order from Dressilyme I KNOW its scary to order your most important dress over a website in China. I think everyone should take into consideration the risks involved. They should fix it or offer a bit of a refund but its a risk you take. They do have very good customer service so maybe just talking to them will get what you want.
