What did/or are you planning on having at the reception as far as drinks. I had an idea for a baby belini but it turned out not that great!
We're having beer, wine, and champagne throughout the whole reception. But we're also doing to specialty cocktails during cocktail hour. We chose a cosmo martini (mostly for the color) and a vodka tonic - both are pretty appealing to most people. Oh, and we're also offering a glass of port or cognac when the cigar bar opens.
no signature drinks...open bar throughout....
Open bar throughout and our signature drinks are going to be micro-brews on tap from where we're from. I'm from Michigan, so we're having Bell's Oberon (a great summer beer) and he's at school in Wisco right now so we're doing his fave- Lake Louie Arena Premium, in addition to Miller Lite or Bud or something. We're not really the martini type :)
I wish we could have alcohol at our reception...its would make it more lively I'm sure! Any receipes for punches (that sounds so boring!!!)?
sarahmhealy we are in the same boat :)
geez, we are planning 6 kegs of beer (FBIL's wedding we went through 5 with no problem), probably a couple bottles of a easy red and a white wine, either Andre or Verdi toasting champagne and Boone's Farm for FMIL (it's the only thing the likes LOL)!
FI's aunt owns the local (and only) liquor store, so we'll be able to purchase everything at cost - plus she'll take back anything unopened.
We had open bar
Any good Punch Recipes???
no signature drinks for us. We are having an open bar from 4:30 to 7:30. Soda/punch/tea/coffee all night.
we were thinking of signature drinks but we're not doing them now... just open bar throughout...
We are thinking about doing a signature drink but haven't found any just yet. We will be having an open bar though during the entire reception.
We did 1500 of open bar and when it was done, everyone paid for their own drinks. It was great b/c it was just enough to get everyone with a nice buzz and in party mode!! =)
We saved $ by bringing in our own liquor and we had signature drinks. Cape cods, vodka tonics, remy and coke and remy and club soda. I wish we could have been more creative, but we didn't want to buy too many mixers.
We had open bar throughout (DH's only non-negotiable request). We got a great deal on it that couldn't be beat. Otherwise it would have been beer, wine, and champagne only.
cryflore: Here are some punch recipes...
My grandma gave me this recipe and it is a huge hit with my friends (especially with vodka added). She used it for holiday parties and colored it green. But you can make it any color you want.
2 c sugar1 c waterBring to a boil (also known as simple syrup).
1 envelope of gelatinDissolve in 1/2 c cold waterpinch of salt
3 c cold water2 c pineapple juice2 Tbls lemon juicefood coloring for color
Mix all ingredients. Freeze the ingredients in a half gallon container (I use a round tupperware container so that it has a "shape" to it and is easier to fit in a punch bowl).
When ready to serve, remove from freezer at least 3 hours in advance to defrost. Pour into punch bowl with 3-4 2 liter bottles of 7-up. (I have also added vodka and it tastes great.)
1 qt ginger ale1 qt lemonade46 oz pineapple juice1 qt lime sherbert
Mix and serve.
My easy holiday party punch:
1 bottle rum
1 bottle cranberry juice
1 - 2 liter lemonade
1/2 - 2 liter Sprite
Just mix it all together and add ice and maybe some cranberries for fun. It tastes great!
