Embarrassing yoga moment - the dreaded vart!

I decided to be brave this weekend and take an anti-gravity yoga class. I love inversions, so I thought it would be awesome. And it was, after I got over my first experience with the in class vart, also known as queef but I think vart has a better somewhat less embarassing sound (no pun intended) to it!

It was at the very beginning of class, after a few warm up stretches. The moment when I was coming down from my first inversion with a smile at my success...and bam it happened; the uncontrolable, horifying vart. A vart differs from a fart since it comes from a different place and is luckily unacompanied by an odor.

If you go to yoga class regularly then you're familiar with the occasional toot during class, and typically everyone in class is great about it. (Though, I've had my laughs while leaving a class whispering with a friend, "did you hear the toot!?") If anyone heard my vart they were kind enough not to chuckle, and if they did, at least they waited until after class. I almost felt the need to justify the noise to the class and explain it was just a vart; there's no controling it and hey at least there was no smell!

I spent the rest of the class working extra hard to keep air from seeping...in there. There was a lot of spotting by the instructor in this class, how embarassed would I have been if she was spotting me and out came a vart!

So of couse when I got home I Googled this. It wasn't hard to find and from what I gather, if you're female and you practice yoga this will happen to you, and probably more than once. This is why I wanted to share my experience, not to further subject myself to even more embarassment, but to let you know, it's okay to vart. We all do it!

Here are a few funny blogs I found about it. I guess I'll be practicing my kegals!

LMAO!!!  Oh my Godddddd!!!  I couldn't stop giggling while I was reading your post Nik!!!  *BIG hug*  Don't worry, I still adore you and if the people in your class are truly in touch with the Namaste vibes, they'll still love you!!

I have yet to experience this in class, which makes me wonder why I haven't if it's a common thing for yoga practitioners??!!  LOL

OMG Mica maybe that means you have super strong abs (and/or kegals!) I hope it never happens to you!

As horifying as it was, it totally makes me giggle uncontrolably when I think about it now. Which is a bit unfortunate right now because that class really did a number on my abs, so laughing is slightly painful!
