Engagement Rings to try on at home??

So my boyfriend and I are starting to talk about getting married and his friend is giving me the inside information of how he is doing his wedding ring shopping.

He has considered doing one of those new services... ship 6 (or however many) rings to the house and I get to try them on and see which one I like, then ship the rest back.

Has anybody done that before? Was it still romantic? Was it a hassle? Was it fun? In general, what was your experience and would you recommend it?

My DH proposed to me with no ring - we then had a jeweller come with some diamonds and settings to show me what I could create.  Although it wasn't the same as getting a ring at the proposal, I loved the fact that DH wanted to let me choose, create and design a ring with him and make something unique that might be a replica but no one else has!  So yes, it was a great experience :)

It is totally a personal preference!! I don't have anything to share, but I know that if picking out your own ring is something you want to do, than going to the jewelry store either with FI or one of this friends or one of your friends etc, is a great idea. The proposal can still be romantic ;)

I think that is still romantic, and ditto to Elise, the proposal will still be romantic and special no matter what! I'm not much help on your questions, my DH picked out my ring with the help of his sister.

Welcome to project wedding and congratulations! I have never heard of this service but sounds like a really cool idea! As the others ladies stated, this is all about your personal preference so if you love the idea I say do it!!! And after you do it, please share with us how you liked it and show off the ring!
