Ex friend causing problems

So we have had friends, well ex friends now, that we have had problems with, in which they are no longer in our wedding. Well the DJ we have we meet through them, not "friends" or anything just knew the DJ, kinda deal. Everything has been good for 6-8 months now, until today. I have been trying to get some more information from the DJ the last week or so and he hasn't been responding to my messages. Well come to find out, the ex's have since talked to him and he is going to pass on being our wedding DJ, because of the situation between me and the friends! and I responded back with WOw. I wouldn't think that would matter but if you dont want my business then so be" And he sent back a thumbs up! WTH!?!?!? I am so hurt and pissed about all this, we had a really good deal with this guy and now I'm scared we are going to have to pay 2 or 3 times as much for a DJ now! Advice please!! I want the professionalism of a DJ and for everythning to flow like it seems to with a DJ, but I do not want pay out the booty for one.

I hate to say it, but it seems like a good thing that he is out of the picture. If there is enough bad vibes coming from your exes then you could have had a worse situation on your hands. He could have dropped out at the last minute, or done something at your party to ruin it on purpose. But he didn't, so that's the upside!  The down side is now you have to regroup. Have you considered buying or renting sound equipment and asking friends and family if anyone wants to mc? This would allow you complete control over the music and flow of events, plus it wouldn't cost a fortune. And you can get guests in on the play list process with special request songs, there way just an invitation with a song request template on the board the other day.

FI is fortuitous enough to have an outgoing little brother who has more fun playing dj than dancing and leapt at the chance to mc our shindig. Who knows maybe this is a blessing in disguise!  Good luck and let us know what you come up with!

I'm so sorry this has happened!! But I agree with kuppy that at least he pulled out early enough and it might be better now that they're just out of the picture. Again, that does suck, but the positives might outweigh the negatives this time.

I would definitely research and call around asap about other DJ's in the area. Maybe find a student DJ that needs experience? If you can't find one within budget, possibly having a friend who can MC would work, but just make sure they know exactly the order of the day/evening and everything they need to annouce :) good luck!

I'd say your ex friends did you a favor. You do not need a DJ that isn't going to be a professional about his work and that doesn't want to DJ for your wedding over a conflict with friends. How embarrassing on his part. He will lose a lot of business and respect with his attitude.

You will find someone way better and everything will work out just fine!

That is SO unprofessional. Is there anywhere you can post a revue about him?? Awful!!!

I really hope you can find someone you like; maybe another DJ will give you a bit of a deal when they find out what happened with the one you hired. Like the others said, at least he cancelled and didn’t just NOT show up on your day.  That happened to a friend of mine with her photographer. No show.

Good luck hon. Let us know how it turns out.
