Exercise

Hi Ladies,

I have a quesuion... I was taking to a friend today and she says that its not safe to exercise after you ovulate because it will preven the egg from implanting?? Many people say its good to exercise when trying to conceive.... But now im confused...

Do you exercise now? Do you think this is an issue?? What has been your experience??

I work out about 4 times a week, spinning, total body class (light weights, cardio) and just starting bikram yoga. Do you think i should stop??

Im going to start doing some research to try to find out.

Honestly?  It's your call.  Everyone has a (contradictory) opinion.

When it comes to the TWW I've heard if you already workout it isn't a concern, keep working out exactly how you normally do.  I've heard just stop ab exercises or anything involving twisting (like yoga twists), but do everything else (legs, cardio, arms, etc).

I've heard it said that once you get a BFP if you already worked out you can continue to, and just modify as your bump grows.  I've also heard it said once you get a BFP to immediately stop all ab workouts and twists - and if that's true or you prescribe to that belief, then you probably shouldn't during your TWW either, right?

I've also heard (tmi) deep penetration DTD during the TWW shouldn't happen either.  Or that during the TWW you don't want to O so your uterus doesn't contract.  But then I've heard you can keep DTD and if those things were true there should be a lot less babies/people ;-)

I've heard yoga is a big one that needs to be modified. But then again there was a regular in one of my yoga classes who *poof* was PG!  And she was still going to regular class with a big ol' bump doing all sorts of crazy moves.  Yet she was attending class regularly all throughout her pregnancy and got pregnant, didn't miscarry, and had a cute baby.  While being a crazy yogi.

Personally, right now we're ignoring a lot of this.  However, if we are still unsuccessful after say 6 months, then I'd probably get more extreme and maybe try some of the above measures to see if that helped.  GL!

Ditto Athena 100%. I've head the same. A friend reminded my yesterday to quit the ab workout during TWW.

Before TTC I became very active mostly because I wanted to be in the best shape of my life before becoming pregnant, and I wanted to be able to work out during pregnancy.

I've also heard those things about yoga. Like Athena, my friend who is an instructor, continued flipping upside down and practicing arm balances until she was too uncomfortable to do so. Her doc told her it was ok but to be extra careful of falling and to quit abs. Her baby is also super healthy and super cute. ;) I've even seen some woman with big ol' baby bumps in my heated classes.

I also haven't modified anything as of yet since this is moneth 1 of TTC for me. I'm in TWW right now and I ran 3 miles at the gym yesterday followed by some inversion practice and stretching, and it felt great.

It's up to you, I've heard both...I personally take it easier after I ovulate--Just in case...it's a sensitive time for my body.  I still exercise by walking etc...but try to stay away from the heat and heavy lifting.
