Expanding your family..

Do any of you have a set time on when you are planning on expanding your family?  I am currently on BC, but I am hoping in the near future I can come off of it just so my body can kind of return to normal before we start trying.  We both are not in a rush to start, so I think we are just going to let nature take it’s time before we start really keeping track of when I am ovulating etc….

I am hoping maybe to start trying around this time next year.

We are not in a rush. At. all.

This sounds really, really terrible but I'm not really into kids (H knew this ahead of time)...the only one i've ever liked is my niece and its only b/c she's adorable. I think someone forgot to implant the baby chip in me....lol. Oh, and my H is the same...we are both just not really into it right now?

We decided we aren't even going to set a date and time when we are going to "plan" to do it...we are going to just live life and see where it takes us. I want to build on my career a bit more and we have some financial goals we have set for ourselves and we are going to focus on that for now.

And we don't get annoying comments from anyone either (except SIL...) so it's kinda off our minds...

We are expecting our first baby in September.  I went off BC the month after the wedding and was pregnant three months later.  It took me a long time to get to the point where I really wanted to have kids though.  It took me dating DH about 5 years before I wanted to get married (we dated almost 7 years before the wedding).  And then just all of a sudden, the summer between us getting engaged and getting marred, I wanted to have kids.  Now.  Almost like some baby switch got flipped.  Before that, I thought sure, I guess I'll have kids...in a couple years (and it was always a couple years away no matter how long I waited lol).  Then bam.  Babies on the brain.

I don't think it's terrible at all to not ever want kids.  Or to not ever have kids.  What is terrible is people have kids they don't want because they fell like they are supposed to, then the kids suffer.  I know plenty of couples that never had kids and are a happy as can be.  If that's what's right for you, then that's what's right for you.  Other people shouldn't butt in and try to tell you how you would be happy.

meany - I have heard that before...that sometimes 'a switch' just flicks on....hopefully that happens to us...I would never want to have kids if both H and I were not 100% engaged in parenthood...it's just not fair to them.

We got married in October 2008 and we're planning to start TTC late this summer.  I would have preferred to start earlier but DH is finishing up his second master's degree while working full time so it's not the best time to get pregnant.  I'm 35 next month so I also know that time isn't on my side.  I always knew I wanted to have children but I had never experienced that strong urge that people talk about when referring to their biological clocks ticking.  That is until this year...now it's all I can think about!  Ha!  It's like my body is telling me "okay, you're older, established, married...get on it already!!" :)

miss_em that is completely understandable...I think some people really want children and others don't or it will take time to get to that place..nothing wrong with enjoying each others company!

miss_em - I hope I didn't make that sound like I thought you would do that, because that wasn't what I meant.  I was just talking about people in general.  :)  The other thing I hate (sorta off topic) is when people have a bunch of kids that they don't take care of because they like the attention they get when they are babies.  And when the baby grows into a toddler they have another baby for the attention.  I just want to smack them!

It was pretty weird.  One day it's "we are SO not ready for kids" and then like the next it was "lets have a baby."  I never would have believed it.  I would have thought it was gradual and took time, but for us, it didn't.

We got married in July 2009 and plan to start trying in June. I got off BCP in early March to get my body regulated, and as far as I can tell, everything is back to normal already!

We're currently trying to prevent a pregnancy in other ways, but we've been terrible about actually using other things to prevent it, so who knows what will happen...

I want to get baby fever!!!  I'm 29 and I still don't have it!  Sometimes I think something is wrong with me.  :(  I feel like I will want kids at SOME point so I told my husband we should start talking about it when I turn 31.  We are hoping to move to Germany next year sometime and I wouldn't want to have kids while we're over there...I just want to be able to enjoy the food, beverages ;), and culture, and TRAVEL!!!!

I was on BC until December 09 when my doctor recommended that i go off because i wasn't getting AF on them and hadn't been for a long time. I had to get a bunch of tests done and suddenly i had baby fever. DH and i thought we would be married for at least a year before we started trying but having that feeling like something could be wrong really woke us up and realized how important it was to us.

So after finding out that it was just the BC that screwed my body up for so many years we decided to let nature take its course, and it happened for us 3 months later. Still weighing on the side of caution until our first Dr. appt though.

I def. have baby fever, but I'm trying to be smart about it and wait to get pregnant until July for work reasons.  BUT I'm not doing much to prevent a pregnancy, and I know we would make it work if i got pregnant now; and I go through the normal emotions of wanting to be pregnant - being let down when I get AF - and then getting over it until next time.

I love being married, though, and I figure each month we have more time to just be US.

Emily, it would be for Steve's Air Force career.  We would live in either Germany or The Netherlands.  I want to move there so badly!!!

I have ALWAYS had baby fever, but it kicked into overdrive a little over a year ago. We planned to be married for one full year, get settled, enjoy married life, etc. and start TTC on our one year anniversary (which is Sunday)! We leave for our one year anniversary trip to Cancun on monday and we could not be more excited!!! I hope we return with a special souvenier! That would be AWESOME! I cant wait to be a mom and I know my DH will be a FANTASTIC father!

we are in the realm of "not trying, not preventing" but i do have baby fever like crazy (*guilty of lurking on the TTC and project baby groups!*). DH has been bringing up the topic more and more, so i know that he is excited to get started as well. however, there are a few reasons that i'm not rushing into it just yet - one is that i'm still working on losing a few more lbs and getting myself as healthy as possible. two is that our apartment is a little small, but i think we could deal with that at least for a few years. the third and biggest reason is that i'm just about to start grad school full time.... i'm just not sure about being pregnant and in school... i'm getting a masters in early childhood/childhood education so in addition to classes, i'll be doing a lot of student teaching. i have a feeling it will be stressful. so, for now we're leaving it up to the powers that be. if it happens, it happens. if not, we're ok with waiting a bit longer until the time is right to really try.

I would love to have children now but we just got married and neither of us have great jobs or steady enough ones for a child. We are hopefully moving to Japan so my DH can teach english and if we do that we will stay 2 or 3 years so hopefully as soon as we come back or right before we come back we will start to TTC.

I have to literally plan my conception because of health issues. But once were married ( 03/2011) soon after I want to start. Just because I'll be 36 on top of I know I'll be high risk preggers.
