Fat free flavour! Any healthy recipes to share? Post 'em here!

I'm starting up this thread so that we can share any tasty, healthy recipes we stumble across.

I'm a big food lover, and I hate diets which have you eating the same thing, but in smaller portions- I find that depressing. I also hate diets which have you eating boiled celery.

Food should be a flavourful celebration! So let's share some great recipes! Here's my first contribution. Tomato and butterbean stew!

I tried it last week- it's hearty and warming, doesn't taste like one of those watery weight-watchers stews!

I think you're starting at the right place...with soups and stews. There are so many healthy ones, and they're so filling! Here are some great ones I have pinned on Pinterest:

Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup (I don't like okra, so I'd leave that out)

(Gluten Free) Lemon Chicken and Orzo Soup (If you're limiting carbs, you could always cut back on the orzo)

Pork Chili Verde (Use lean pork, and this is packed with protein and fiber!)

Thanks for the recipes, Laura- they look great!

I'm finally having some luck on my quest to cut the carbs! This is a carb free pizza base- I was a bit dubious about the 'cup of mozzarella' in the recipe, so I replaced it with an extra egg, and a bit of parmesan for flavour.

It was delicious- a little crumbly, but so tasty! Give it a go, carb fighters!

Here's another quick and easy delicious recipe! I added mushrooms, and it was so creamy, it's impossible to believe that it's almost fat free!

Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine all spices into a mixture. Brown ground beef and drain off any fat.
  2. Add noodles, spice mix, milk and beef broth.
  3. Bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for about 20 minutes, until liquid is absorbed.
  4. Stir in sour cream, mix thoroughly, then serve.

How do you feel about delicious salads?

Try this recipe:

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Beet-Salad-with-Goat-Cheese/Detail.aspx?crlt.pid=camp.MsCMCeRamkSx

If you don't like beets, you can substitute for other veggies, as well as goat cheese can be substituted for feta cheese etc. The dressing is olive oil and vinegar which makes it even more heart healthy. Yummy.

Also remember: fat is not the enemy. A little fat in the dish can make it more savory and lead to eating less of something. Just because its fat free doesn't mean its healthy. It's all about finding the right balance for you :) Sorry, that's just a soap box for me :p

That recipe is really making me want that salad!!

That sounds amazing! I've been trying to include some good fats like avo's and olives, but I didn't know I could get away with goat's cheese. Mmmmmm... cheese!
