Faux pas?

I tried on my dress twice at a nearby salon that also does alterations. But I then found it on eBay for much cheaper, but it still needs minor alterations. Should I go back to the salon to get alterations or is that just too tacky?

I don't think so. I mean, just say you found a used one for a good deal but you wanted to take it to the experts for alterations to flatter them. The only thing is if you are dealing with people who take business personally rather than professionally they may not do a top notch job. In which case, I would take it to another tailor. Most dry cleaning services also have tailors. No matter who you find to tailor your dress be sure to ask them if they've done formal wear before, and if they have worked with beading/lace etc. Worst case scenario, you can always take it to another bridal salon.

I say take it in. They should take it as a compliment that you wanted to come back to them after your experience there.

I'm in a similar situation Moe...I purchased online (not E-Bay though, couldn't find my dress there at the time). I called the place I went to for a few dress trials and just told them that I purchased from an online retailer due to the price factor and the girl was super nice and said that they would still love to do the alterations is I needed them. I agree with AC...flatter them and they won't care where you purchased from, as long as their getting some sort of business from you I would think they would love to help.

I agree to take it there if you really liked them. I went to one salon multiple times because I really liked them and planned on purchasing my dress from them, but ended up finding it at a sample sale. I asked them if I could bring it in for the alterations (with lots of flattery, I am getting my BM dresses there and both the MOB and MOG dresses), but unfortunately they will only do alterations on gowns they sold, but they did give me a good recommendation.
