Fifth BM

Warning: A bit long. Sorry in advance!

I've been going back and forth on the fifth spot of my bridal party for awhile now. I haven't had the best of luck in the friends department and unfortunately, two of my best friends and I have drifted apart. I'm talking to one but it's clearly not the same as before and the other, well, we're strangers to one another.

In the beginning, I wanted to include the girl that I am now talking to. Let's call her "L." L and I have been friends for over 10 years and we've had a lot of ups and downs. My only drawback to including her is that I have a really strong feeling that we may have beef again in the future. She will be in my pictures for life and when I look back at them, I want to see good memories. Not bad ones.

So, here is what I plan to do. I have gotten close to another gf of mine and I plan to ask her to be in my wedding party. However, I still want to somehow include L. So, I'm planning to ask her to be a candle or a veil sponsor. Do you think L will be offended or will she be honored? If you were in her position, how would you feel?

TIA!

Here's a proper definition for both:

Veil Sponsor: The veil sponsors usually consist of one man and one woman - perhaps one from each side of the family. During a specific point in the ceremony know as the Sanctus, the veil sponsors carefully pin a large veil on top of the bride's head and onto the shoulder of the groom. The veil symbolizes unity and that the couple shall be "clothed as one."

Candle Sponsor: The candles, lit by the candle sponsors, is a call for enlightenment, a reminder of God's presence in the ceremony.

given the history you hvae, i think she'd be honored that you thought enough of her to even be included in the symbolic gestures of draping the veil or lighting the candle

be true to yourself and you'll never go wrong!!
