First trimester spotting

So I am about 6 weeks along and yesterday had some light brown spotting. I called my dr and they said to just drink water and rest so I layed on the couch all day. This morning I had some dark reddish brown spotting and immediately started crying and called my dr again. They said to take an extra progesterone and just lay on the couch all day. I am so worried! The spotting is now minimal and light brown. No cramping. Has anyone else experienced this??

I had spotting throughout my first trimester.  From what I remember, as long as the blood isn't bright red, you're fine.  In my case there was a minor (very minor) hemmorhage that is apparently very normal and common in the first trimester.

Thanks for your reply! My dr's office just called to check on me and offered to do an ultrasound tomorrow morning so hopefully I will find out that everything is ok.

I had a little bit, if there isn't a lot and isn't any pain then hopefully all is good.

Good luck tomorrow xx

Just got back from the dr and happy to report that baby is ok! We saw the heartbeat flickering and dr said the baby measured at 6 weeks which is exactly where I thought it should be. I started having the dark reddish brown spotting again right when I got to the dr's office this morning and I was so worried but I found out that the bleeding is all from the cervix not from the uterus or anything to do with the baby. I was told that the progesterone suppositories I'm taking can irritate the cervix and make it bleed. SO relieved! I got a little picture even though you can't really see anything and will go back in one week for a follow-up US. :)

So glad the baby is OK. I spotted most days up until 11 weeks and it scared me every time I went to the loo. I am now 32 weeks so hang in there and my FX for you H x

I can imagine your fear. I experienced the same when I was pregnant and I remember just freaking out and feeling helpless. I was at work when it happened so I went back to my station in tears. Thank God my daughter was fine but it was the scariest moment. Im glad to hear everything is great with you!

I had it clear up until I was 14 weeks a week ago. The most important thing is not to stress, some women just do. I also have cysts and fibroids so who knows. I hope it stops soon for you!

Wow, I'm so glad I stumbled on this thread!  I'm 6 weeks and have been having light brown spotting for about a week.  I've also had mild crampiness since before my BFP, pretty much off and on daily.  I had my first OB appointment yesterday and was told that this is normal for many women in the first trimester.  I'm still scared, but I'm happy to hear it's common.  Why don't they talk about this symptom more?!

They drew my blood yesterday to check my HCG and progesterone levels so I should be getting a call this afternoon.  I'm praying so hard that everything is ok.

I'm so happy everything worked out for you, july!
