Flu shot and pregnancy??

Are you ladies getting a flu shot?  Many medical websites (Mayo Clinic, etc) are saying pregnant women should get it regardless of how far along they are because the benefits FAR outweigh the risks.  Here's an article I read: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/influenza/AN00651

I can see both sides to the coin, but as a teacher, I think it might be a good idea for me to get it.  It's just a scary thought to do it during my frist trimester.  Maybe I will wait until November when I am in my 2nd?

I am going to talk to my OB on the 10th when I have my ultrasound...so we will see.

Just wondered what you all thought.

(I recognize that this is a hot-button topic, and I don't want to offend anyone!  It's a very presonal choice for everyone)

I am 25 weeks and got the flu shot and the DTap shot at my 6 mnth check up. I also work with children so I found that it would be beneficial to me and baby. I typically do not get sick but it would be just my luck to get sick.

I stay away from all vaccines if possible ( unless they are needed for me to attend school and such). I have a fantastic immune system and have not as much as, had a minor cold for at least 8 years. Dh does get sick from time to time, but it seems to not influence me. I am now at 31 weeks and feel like it will probably not be needed for me. My Dr. also said that this is probably not a priority since I have only 9 weeks to go. I do take my vitamins and stay away from sick people.

I did not get it, but a Doctor hasnt even mentioned it to me yet.  I probably won't get it just because I don't see to get sick very often.

Its almost mandatory for me to get one since all I do is work with very sick people. I went to get mine yesterday at my hospital since its free, and they said I have to check with my dr. So i'll "double" check with her on Tuesday- then get mine asap. I have gotten a flu shot for the last 8 years and have never gotten sick from it and have never gotten the flu.

I can't imagine feeling like crap on top of getting the flu and feeling even worse. And I have so far had an easy 8 weeks.

I was too worried about the risks so I took the risk of not getting one bc I avoid unnecessary vax. I was fine. I got the dtap/pertussis at the hospital as soon as I delivered though to protect the baby. I was very nervous and extra cautious throughout my whole pregnancy so I wouldn't get sick since I commuted and worked in the most congested city in America at the time!

At my doc apt she wants me to wait until the 12th week. So I have three more weeks before I get mine. :-/

Mare- I never get sick and being around sick people none stop, I think its like a big city- your immunity grows from all the germs everywhere, so there is not much to get you down since your body has been exposed to part of it before.
