For Manzanita Branches

I know many brides have done these, but what other than these can I use to put the branches in? I love the one with the moss base & petals but I have no idea how they got it to stand. I don't have the money to cover the base with flowers though.

You can use anything.  Right now I'm using the cheap plastic flower pots at Home depot.  I mean the really cheap plastic ones.  I'm covering them with satin...but you wouldn't even have to do that if your using moss.  Just cover it in moss!!!  then throw some petals on the table!

I'm taking a different avenue with my trees but I made a very quick mock up (I just kinda threw the moss in so it's not perfect but you get the idea). I used a cheap plastic flower pot from the 99 cents store. I spray painted it metallic gold. I held the manzanita in place with masking tape and used spray insulation (app. $4 at Home Depot) and sprayed it in the pot. I let it dry and threw the moss (bought for $1 at Dollar Tree) on top. The crystals were from www.shopwildthings.com and the hanging votives I made from .50 cent votive holders from Michaels and flameless candles I bought from Dollar Tree (I think they were 4/$1 or 6/$1). It was very inexpensive to put this together. I think if I took the time to make it right it would actually not look so bad. I also think that the crystals look a bit fake and if I were to actually do the manzanita thing I would probably get real crystals from Jamali Garden or something. But hey, you get the idea lol.

I love the look as well.  I would suggest adding another votive, so three votives in each.  Also...I'm using the hanging crystals that I cut from shopwildthings.com. They are from an 18' curtain.  Anyway...my manzanita is over 5' tall so I'm using a lot.  I lit the votives and the plastic crystals actually look really good with the lights in the room dimmed.  I'm stickin' with the plastice ones.  I also like your container.  I would suggest dripping the moss over the sides a bit if you can.  Your centerpiece is beautiful.

To do the moss idea like the one below, I think the best thing to do would be to drill a pilot hole in the bottom of your tree, then attach it to a flat particle board base with a long screw to give it stability to stand. You would probably need to use a reasonably small manzanita, as it looks like they did, to make sure it doesn't tip. Then you could then somehow create the shape of the base with plaster or papier mache, then affix the moss to it.

I have a friend who actually used qucik dry cement to get the branches to stand, then she used moss and dried flowers at the base for a more affodable touch.

I guess I wanna do this one because our tables will be small (6 plp) so I don't want to take up too much space plus other decorations. I also don't wanna spend too much time on each cp because with smaller tables, that means more tables = more CPs....

More ideas?? I like the quick dry cement option as it seems the fastest ;) I think maybe if I could find some type of wooden bowl and somehow glue them??? ugh, I don't know.

I used styrofoam in my bases.  I just filled the pots till they were jam packed with styrofoam, and then pushed the branch into the styrofoam as hard as I could.

Here are mine.

Thank you!  The flowers are silk flowers.  I used a small styrofoam ball and glued moss and flowers to it to cover it.  Then I just placed it into the branch.  I didnt even need to glue the ball to make it stay.  The branches held it up on their own.  The cenerpieces were not heavy at all.  I think I would say that one entire centerpiece weighed around 7-10lbs tops.

Heres a close up of the flower ball:
