From Milly to DressilyMe

Hi ladies!

Thank you "bride1986" for letting us know about this company. If it really only takes 20 days to make a dress, I might actually go with this company too.

I haven't gone through the drama that 2010bridetobe did with Milly Bridal, but I'm hoping to avoid catastrophe by getting a back up dress. They told me my dress was to be completed by the end of January, but after awhile, the representative ended up telling me I'd get the dress in April. (which would not be in time for my wedding.)

For those going with dressily- please keep us updated! I might order within the next week if I don't hear from Milly. (Now that they're on vacation, I probably won't.)

Does anyone know if Dressily takes a 1 month New Year vacation also?

Pretty sure basically the entire country takes this vacation but they are going to be back the last week of February and start shipping again after Feb. 22nd. That's what I got out of their website message anyway. I have worked with Chinese vendors before and they've all closed down for about the same length of time in February as well.

hi phannie nice to hear that u are interessted in dressilyme. I get my dress now next week, it seems like they have all the dresses sent out on friday! I can track it by now and hope to get it before wednesday next week.

i think if you take a dress they already have made, like 2010bride2bee said, it would not take 20 days! When is your wedding?

I'm not sure the dress would be made during the new year, but if they get back on Feb 22nd I think it is, (don't they mention they start shipping dresses again on that date?) then they would have a week to make the dress during the month of February. Ship the 1st of March and have it by end of first week of March. That sounds more promising then Milly's timeline, thus far.

bride> i'm excited for you! can't wait to hear how it turns out for you :). My wedding is April 10, but i would like to have my dress by early march if possible. Right now Milly says Mid march

2010>> yes your'e right...the 22nd of Feb. it takes 5-10 days to ship, right? If it's 10 days, then it'll come just a few days before Millys...hrm. lots to contemplate

I did, it's in the other dressily thread, the one that just says wedding dresses.

Yeah, I was super excited to find Milly, and while most of the dresses and workmanship from them seems great, the recent rash of stories makes me hesitant. I'm almost certain the issue stems from the holiday and people rushing to get things done and doing shoddy work because of it... but I'm terrified of falling into that small percentage with them and stressing myself further.

Plus, I found MY dress on the Dressily website... I'd probably still try to send the close up picture I have of the beading and back, but they're at least familiar with the dress, AND it's less than half the price Milly quoted for it. At this point, my plan is to order from Dressily (thank you tax refund) and keep my eye on what's happening with Milly. If the Dressily dress is awesome, I saved 300 dollars, and if it sucks, I can try somewhere else and not be out too much.

Phannie>>  (actually I'd like everyone's help too lol)

This is the original dress I had in mind. I tried it on on Brides by Demetrios, and fell in love. It's been the only dress that made me gasp... I love the beading and the sparkly tulle on the first two layers.

Phannie actually I d photo 1396268-1

But then I saw this one on the site and I am so so very torn:

Phannie actually I d photo 1396268-2

I don't know what to do now. I'm going to have to email and see about the sparkle tulle first, but do I go sparkle or lacey!?? ARGH

Ooh...that is hard to choose!

Just know that unless you have you a close up view/photo of the beading, they may not be able to match it well. It looks as if that Demetrios dress has beaded lace...or no?

Anyhow, beading will definitely take longer, but if you're not in a time-bind then it should be ok.

As for which one - i don't know! haha..they're both very dramatic. Have you tried on a similar dress to the 2nd one? Might want to see it on your body to know if you like that halter top.

good luck!

I do have a close up of the beading, although, it's not the exact design I loved, but the amount, the top layer is that split front, and the beading down the edge and all the way around the bottom adds a nice weight. There's no lace on the first one, just the tulle, beads all the way around he edges, and some scattered "floral" sprays of beads on the rest of the skirt. The second dress looks like there might be beading on the lacey parts, but I can't tell (I included that question in an email to them). I'd also ask to make it strapless instead of the halter. Style/silhouette wise, they are almost exactly the same, if the Demetrios model was standing the dresses would look like the were made from the same pattern. I tried on a ton of the tulle ball-gowns at Demetrios and really loved them all, but the sparkles of that top one, and the more "finished" edge the beads gave the tulle was what kept drawing us back.

Just wanted to toss it out there that even with a close up of the beading, I wouldn't expect it to look like the original. The one thing I noticed with DressilyMe is that they were very sparing with the beads. You may want to be very specific with them in that you want the beading to be as close as possible and that you want there to be beading in all the same places as the original dress. They aren't going to be able to replicate the beading patterns exactly, but perhaps if you tell them upfront that you want to be sure there will be as many beads, they can quote your price accurately and make sure you are getting what you envision.
