Fruit cake

I'm hoping there may be a few British brides (or brides with British FIs like me) that have come across this issue before. I've so far only been able to find one cake baker in and around SF that include fruit cake as one of their specialties. I want to do due diligence and meet with two different bakers (even though I already think I'm going to love the one we're meeting with). Does anyone know of any bakers that do traditional English fruit cake? We want to at least include one or two tiers of it for our British guests.

crylore - yep, I think they are one in the same but British people like it for wedding cake as well. my wedding isn' until April 17, 2009 but I'm trying to line up tastings/meetings for October.

jharkins - thank you! edith is the one i already have a meeting with. her cakes look lush and she's so nice so i probably will end up going with her but, just in case, i'll line up at least one more meeting. fruit cake or not.

This might sound crazy, but maybe call the British Consulate in SF, they might be super excited to get a cute request for suggestions like this. http://ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/en/our-offices-in-the-us/other-locationsin-us/sf/

Or try the Australian Consulate, if I am correct, the fruitcake tradition (and type) is the same. There is also an Aussie store in SF that you could call. http://www.yelp.com/biz/australia-fair-san-francisco
