Fun Centerpieces..what do you think?

Hey guys, this is actually my first post...so HI!!!!!!

Anyways, so my fiance and I are are kinda funky people, hes a puppeteer and a screenplay writer and I am a writer and production coordinator...so we want to have a totally fun wedding...we were thinking that instead of floral centerpieces we would have themed tables...such as things that are important to us.... a couple tables would be:

1. New York, because that is my favorite city in the World, plus we got engaged there.
2. Jim Henson, since Eddie is a puppeteer and is inspired by him
3. Film, since we both work in the industry...

and I have many more...but I thought instead of a menu card I would put a little card telling people why the table has that theme....

But in order to incorporate some flowers I wanted to put petals on each table, and maybe a few stems somehow incorporated to the centerpiece?

what do you guys think?

That's a cool idea. Maybe for the New York table you can have a bowl of red apples as a snack. Or maybe you can have puppets as the centerpieces for all the tables.

That's an awesome idea! How about Kermit mums and protea for the Jim Henson arrangements?! Maybe cockscomb too? Any textural and funky flowers would be appropriate.

For New York, how about roses, which are the state flower? Maybe Apples and Roses (so pretty) in a silver bowl?

Film...how about an old film canister with a low bowl ontop with white candles and white gardenias floating in it? Or a strip of film woven through it? I just went to a fundraiser called "At Night at the Opera" and it was all movies that had featured opera (this was an opera fundraiser) and the tables had strips of film coiled in the centerpieces, it looked pretty cool. The favors were also silly charlie chaplin eyeglasses with an attached mustache...hilarious to see all the well heeled donors with those on!

Or you can incorporate all of it into one...that might be cute too...

Brilliant idea! Will you be keeping with the same color theme for all the tables?

Oh ...I love the idea of glasses with fake moustaches..as a favor...thats fun...

the color scheme is going to be soft yellow with clover green..since we are having a spring wedding...so I was thinking the table clothes could be clover, with white chair covers, and yellow bows..and then I think we are going to let our centerpieces be whatever color they happen to be...but throw in some daisies..since that is the flower I plan to use for the bridesmaides bouquets...but just sort of put the daisies here and there...

We just want our wedding to be a good time...we want to have a photobooth with a scrapbooking table, and a childrens table with coloriing books and stuff....But I will be posting a list of our final themes we come up with and maybe some of you could suggest stuff to use as a centerpiece...cause you are awesome at it....

that's definitely a good idea. floral centerpieces are so generic. it's better to have things personalized.

Hi Lukduck!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner! I LOVED Avenue Q, it is one of my favorite musicals. I saw it last year on a weekend when I flew into NY for a friend's wedding and laughed so hard it hurt!

I thought of a few more things that you could do (though some are obvious so you might already have these ideas). Maybe you can incorporate your favorite lines from movies and Shakespeare into the ceremony?

For the theater theme, I'm thinking dramatic and over-the-top luxury like Phantom of the opera. Maybe the placesetting can have mask favors.. you know the ones that cover the eyes, and adorned with feathers and a few scattered crystals.

For your guestbook, maybe you can have a vintage-looking movie poster for your wedding that people can sign?

Also, maybe your invitation can read like a playbill. Preferrably not horror film for the invitation though. :)

For the B horror film, maybe Eddie can dress up in his favorite villain and take pictures of him chasing you. That could be the table number?
