www.plumparty.com has some cute patterned ones too! And Cost Plus World Market carries them. Sometimes Target has them in their Garden section.

I love the paper lantern look, but can I ask a stupid question....

who puts them up? I don't really want to pay for another vendor and obviously I can't do it myself. Just wondering....

The one wedding I was in with paper lanterns...we (the bridal party) put them up! This was about 5 hours before the ceremony began.

If you have a WC or DOC, I would think that this would fall in their jurisdiction. Also, if you're using a tent, the company would probably set them up for you.

Ah I see! i just asked my florist and she said the DOC would as well. But how would they do it if they don't have a ladder handy? And I wonder if the hotel would let them borrow one for insurance reasons?

I could probably have my dad, brother, future father & brother in law hang them but would they really know what they're doing? that would be hilarious!

I would talk to over with your catering manager from the hotel and see if they have rules and what they are. You might have to hire someone from the hotel to hang them. It also depends if you plan for them to light up or just be there for decor purposes. If you want them lit, you may need to hire a lighting company to do it (in which case they'd hang them and their insurance would cover them) or buy battery operated inserts for the lanterns.

The catering mgr suggested the florist. And the florist suggested the DOC. It'll be for decorative purposes in the ceremony because there are four trees surrounding that area. We'll see where the budget takes me!

If I do the lanterns I'll probably have my DOC or family handle it.

A few strung up in the trees would be super cute. And certainly easy enough for your DOC to do...she or he will need to bring a step ladder or something. Maybe you can scope it out in advance so you really know what you'll need.

Chandeliers are absolutely gorgeous and go with my shabby chic feel but I looked into it and they were really expensive. I found a vendor on Ebay but the shipping was more than $120!!

I thought about reselling them after my wedding...that might help. But I think the paper lanterns would be much easier and lighter to hang. I can totally them falling on someone's head or something.
