Glue for Swaroski Crystal Flatbacks...

Hi Ladies,

I will be assembling my invitation soon and was wondering what type of glue I should use to adhere the flatback rhinestone crystal that will go on the invitation.

Thanks!

Get a good quality super glue. Use a pair of tweezers to apply your stones. Don't cover the back on the stone in glue as this is too much, when you place your stone the glue will spread and come up on to the edges of your stones, rendering them cloudy and opaque. Glue ruins the crystal if it gets on it so proceed with caution! Place a dot no larger than 50% of the total stone back surface to ensure that the spread it just enough to cover the back of the crystal without getting any spillage.

Otherwise I'd suggest Hotfix as they are amazing. You might not think you can go down that road due to the fact that using a hot iron on paper products would be a no-no, but you could use a Kandi Kane to apply them. It's a fabulous device which grabs the crystal, heats it up, melting the glue on the back, and then you just tap with the appliance where you want the crystal to go and it falls out of the Kandi Kane, and sticks fast. This takes the guess work out of glueing because Swarovski have already put the glue on the back of the Hotfix stones for you, just the right amount.

Also forgot to say, if you use superglue and tweezers remember to wipe your tweezers on a clean cloth (not paper towel as it'll get fluff on the tweezers) every 4-5 applications to avoid getting any glue on the rhinestone and thus suffer clouding.

PM Adamsapple - she is the superstar for Swarovski Crystals - she will know exactly what you need and exactly what to do  - she is on honeymoon at the moment but worth a PM for when she comes back in a couple of weeks :)

She did loads of Swarovski's for her wedding day and also does stuff on the side with them too.

Hope that Helps :)

I used E1000. I think that's what it's called. comes in a silver/grey tube. Worked great and dries quickly!
