Good and bad experience - lots of pics!

Hi, I'd ordered through Dressilyme after seeing posts here and thought I'd share the ups and downs of my experience for others looking to buy from them.

We became engaged late last year and decided to set the date for late April which left me very limited time to arrange a dress. After a month of reading reviews and looking over every dress on the site several times I ordered.

I knew I wouldn't have time to reorder if my dress came out wrong so I ordered 2 wedding dresses (planning to sell the one I didn't wear) along with several petticoats, veils, jackets and some evening gowns.

At the time I placed my order I requested photos of the wedding gowns upon completion. Karen from the customer service team clarified a few measurements and assured me the gowns would be made to my specifications including extra beading at no additional cost on one of the dresses.

After only 2 weeks I received the first set of pictures of dress WWD003D7:

I was disappointed by messy pleating around the bodice and the pickups on the skirt were placed with no consideration to the shape of the dress, it even had what looked like a wing sprouting out of the hip!

I used photoshop to show how I wanted the dress to look and sent the request back to them for it to be modified:

Two days later Karen sent me pictures of the completed dress and it was absolutely perfect!!!

They'd placed the pickups exactly where I had moved them to in my request, tidied up most of the pleats, the wing was gone and it looked stunning:

I was so happy and relieved to know this dress was complete.

I'd ordered this as a backup and WWD00AAQ as my first choice. The pictures on the website were absolutely amazing and I couldn't wait to see how that one had come out. I asked Karen for pictures and that's where my dressilyme experience started to go downhill....

If you look up WWD00AAQ on the site it's easy to see what drew me to it.  The pronounced sweetheart neckline, dropped asymetric waist, the balanced overall look of the dress despite so much going on.  As soon as I saw it I knew this was the dress I wanted to wear.  I didn't believe they'd be able to do it justice but I'd seen other brides post pictures of it looking as close as possible to the original picture given the cheaper fabrics... so I was gutted when I saw this:

If you look up photo 3305201-1If you look up photo 3305201-2

I'm 5'6" and plan on wearing 5" heels. To accommodate the length they'd destroyed the proportions of the dress and left it with long, lanky tiers.  The neckline was all wrong, and the waist so wrong I don't even know where to begin with that.

It looked so unrelated to the original picture of the dress on their site that I was sure they'd be reasonable when I requested simply shortening the top tier and adding another one under it to restore the balance to the look of the dress and fixing the neckline.  I pointed out that the waist was wrong and the fabric too light to hold the ruffles properly but that I was trying to be reasonable and find a solution which wouldn't require a remake of the dress and tried my best to do this in a nice way as I'd had such a good experience up to that point and thought they were genuinely trying their best to provide quality dresses that matched the pictures on their site.

Their response was that they made the dress to the specifications on the website and would fix the neck but any other changes would cost me an extra $64!? I'm really disappointed by this, I'm not about to pay an extra 30% for such a simple alteration when there's still so much wrong with the dress.  I've asked them to fix the neck and tidy up the existing tiers and have resigned myself to the fact that I won't be walking down the aisle in my dream dress after all.

I know at the end of the day you get what you pay for, but after how good my experience with the first dress was it was a big disappointment.  I'm glad I ordered the other dress and will post pictures of them once they arrive.

After sending the last email to them Karen emailed me back to let me know they were working on the dress again and she'd send me pictures as soon as possible.

This evening I received a message from her that they'd made changes to the skirt and asking if I found them acceptable:

After sending the last photo 3306926-1After sending the last photo 3306926-2

I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!

I honestly had given up on this dress, and yes they still have to alter the neckline but it's finally has the skirt proportions matching the bodice like in the original picture.

I can't thank Karen enough for getting it fixed for me, the service she's provided has been amazing and for her to push for the changes after I'd given up has made me feel so grateful for the help she gave me.

If I could change the title of this thread I probably would, but I guess parts of my Dressilyme buying experience were bad.  When the dressmaker said there was nothing wrong with the dress I felt helpless and frustrated. When they said they would charge to alter it I was really upset. But overall this has been outweighed by how happy I am with the end result.  They've given me two dresses which I'll be happy to wear at a really reasonable price and I would definitely buy through them again.

I can't wait to receive my dresses and try them on!

Here's my reception dress, hasn't been laced up properly and fully (check out how weird it is at my butt, because I just had a big dinner :P.

I rather wished they had put some netting in the botton for me so it would have more body, but overall i'm quite pleased with it.

I did request that the pickups only start at the knee, and for fewer pickups in general because I was worried I'd look like a meringue...

Let me know what you girls think!!

Your dresses are beautiful, I'm sure you will look amazing in any of them! You have also helped reinforce my decision to buy from Dressily Me.

'Soap box time' - I can't help but feel your title of 'bad experience' is a bit misleading.  I understand you want your dress to be perfect and beautiful of course but it sounds like to me they have been outstanding - they have responded and done everything you have asked.  You are ordering a custom dress at a fraction of the cost here.  They don't have your body, just basing things off measurements alone.  You have to expect that it isn't going to be 1000% perfect or JUST like the real designer dress...that's why you get the phenomenal price.  If you want THE perfect designer dress, you really should order from the real designer.  We are basically ordering from a sweat shop in china so I feel like we could at least have a little understanding for those making our beautiful gowns for next to nothing.

Thanks for helping reinforce my decision and best of luck!
