Grey Market Camera?

Hello ladies! I'm new to the group. I'm looking to purchase a DSLR (Canon 60D).

Does anyone have any experience or opinions on grey market cameras? I can get the camera plus a 5 year warranty (accidental included) for less than non-grey market... so tempting to go with the 5 year warranty. Especially since we have a little one who gets into EVERYTHING! The company I'm looking to purchase from is AJ Richies.

Thanks ladies!

I had to look up "grey market" camera and this is what I saw.  Doesn't like what it sounds like.  http://www.dcresource.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-5438.html

Then I looked up AJ Richies... I know we shouldn't judge books by their covers, but this site just screams shady.  Then I found this review: http://www.scambook.com/report/view/45178/aj-richies-Bait---Switch-for-750.00-on-11-16-2011

I remember seeing conversations about this kind of dealers that they always "get" you on something.  How do you know how good the warranty service is going to be?  How do you know they won't overcharge you for parts and labors when you need services?

I'd much rather buy a used one for cheaper than a brand new one for a price that's too good to be true.  Or get it from B&H photo grey market if they still have it.

Also, just curious, have you considered T3i or 600D?  It's a lot cheaper and really isn't that different from 60D.  I'm wondering what it is you're looking for that requires 60D?

Warning! A gray market camera's warranty is NOT valid in the US! DON'T fall for the trap. Trust me, I sold cameras for 16 years.  I'm telling you do not do it. Canon USA will NOT honor a gray market camera warranty. Please don't throw your money away.

And I will tell you, they are usually NOT really new, they are refurbs!  You would be better off buying used from KEH.com than a gray market camera. Please please don't!

Thanks for your input ladies- I went with the new instead of the grey market :)

Yelp- From reading reviews & talking to some people, I think that I would outgrow the T3i/600D and be looking for more features soon. I'd consider myself beginner to intermediate now (I've taken a few classes in high school & college with my Canon SLR). I'm mainly shooting our baby & vacation pictures. I guess I just wanted to make sure that I was getting a camera that I wouldn't have to upgrade again in at least the next 5 years.
