When was the first time you had an alcoholic beverage?
My parents used to let me have a tiny glass of wine with special dinners (celebrations, not just a good roast!!) from about 10 or 11.
Besides the occaisonal sip of my parents, it was probably senior year of high school, my best friend and her mom who had moved away years prior came back for a visit. The moms got together and had cocktails, and me and two good friends got to have a bit too! I didn't feel drunk or anything but it was a super fun night! lol. Then I didn't really drink again until late in freshman year of college...
when i was 22, and lived on my own. my parents never drank.
Not until my early 20s. My mom had a drinking problem when I was growing up and that really soured me on the whole thing! I actually bought myself my 'dream' car, a green VW Bug, when I turned 21 as an alternative to partying hard :)
Now I'm okay with it and I enjoy drinking socially with friends...and have even been known to over-indulge on certain occasions, but I am glad I waited.
When I was 13 and my cousins and I sneaked our family signature cocktail "Hoover Twist". It knocked up for a loop and we went from laughing under the table to puking in the bathroom..
Good times :)
Ok, this is a funny story in retrospect. I was 8 when I took my first alcoholic beverage.
We travelled to the country one chrismas to see my grandparents, and it turns out that I and my cousins were running around playing. The weather was hot and I got thirsty. So i went to the fridge to get some water, and the only bottles i saw were of aromatic schnaps. Well, i really didnt think much of it, seeing that my grand parents usually recycle such bottles by converting them into water storage bottles.
Anyways, i was too lazy or in a hurry to get a cup, so i furtively looked around, then hurriedly opened up the bottle for a quick swig of water out of the bottle into my mouth, only to end up with a mouth full of spirits! I gagged, swallowed some, spat the rest over the place. The rest of the day, I just sat quietly in a corner,no talking, no playing, nothing.
