GTKY - Where in the world are all my PW Sisters?

Fun Poll - Post what country/region you are from and a few facts about what your region is known for as well as any little known facts which may be interesting : )

I am from Seattle, Washington in the USA.

We are well known here for our rain/grey skies and our innovative minds (i.e. Microsoft, Amazon, Nintendo, Starbucks, Costco, up and coming biotechnical research, etc.).

One little known fact is that more sunglasses are purchased per capita in Seattle than any other city in the United States.  How is that for positive thinking!  Another forgotten fact is that aircraft giant Boeing is based here, and everytime you fly, chances are the jet you are in was built here.

County: Kent in England

Well known for our wet weather and Kent is known as the garden of England our emblem is a white horse.

Odd thing, this summer has been the hottest I can remember and it hasn't rained in ages then we get a thunderstorm today! (also not that common in England!)

Im from NewYork.. the Saratoga Springs region.

Known for high taxes, aggressive drivers (guilty... but we drive smart... just aggressive too... lol), and COLD winters.

As much as I hate NY for the above, it really is one of the most beautiful states I have seen, and you just can't beat the Adirondaks!

Tip of Texas! (Rio Grande Valley)

We are known for: our extensive high school football spirit, 100% humidity summers (it's so hot, it's HAWT), & taco stands on every corner!

Fun fact: South Padre Island is the #2 beach in the nation.

Victoria, BC (Canada)

Known as the "City of Gardens." We have mild winters, great ocean and mountain vistas but can be very "clannish" to outsiders.

I love BC with it's vast array of differences from the moutainous regions, dessert regions in the interior and the wonderful coast!

Tampa, Florida!
We are known for a strong college football fanbase, sunshine and lots of humidity and beautiful beaches (especially on the west coast).
Most people think we are the southernmost state but Hawaii is actually further south.
St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States.
FL produces the majority of citrus grown in the US.
Gatorade was created at the University of Florida (Go Gators!)

Alberta, Canada

Alberta is the largest producer of crude oil and natural gas products in the country. Alberta is the world’s 2nd largest exporter of natural gas and the 4th largest producer. We're also home to the famous Calgary Stampede! Calgary is the largest city in Alberta, but Edmonton is the capital. It's freaking cold here in the winter, but we have Jasper and Banff which are gorgeous places to visit and go skiing or snowboarding.

We're in Ft. Collins, CO

Known for 300+ days of sunshine and CO blue skies, and LOTS of mountains!  Everyone thinks we live IN THE MOUNTAINS and it snows a lot, lol.  Not true :)

Ft Collins is the home of New Belgium brewery, Ft Collins brewery, and Odells.

More than 60,000 Canadian geese winter in Fort Collins each year.

Horsetooth Reservoir gets its name from a particular rock formation overlooking the city that resembles a horse´s jaw with several large teeth jutting forward.

Old Town Fort Collins was the inspiration for the Disneyland Main Street
California.

Belgium: known for having the best beer in the world (800 kinds), amazing chocolate, fries, waffles, Jean Claude Van Damme, and some dodgy stuff we should not get into here. Julius Caesar proclaimed us to be the bravest of all Gauls. We have 3 official languages and that causes major difficulties for the government.

Little known fact: Belgium has the lowest proportion of McDonalds per inhabitant in the developed world. 0,062 per 10 000 people, so less than one per 160 000 people. :-)

lilmissangel - I actually live in a suburb of Seattle named Kent : )

Junie102011 - I love Dutch Cocoa!

Summersong & Kira - Fi is from Buffalo.  He would agree with you about being the "better drivers", lol.  Personally, I appreciate the blunt honesty and direct communication style of native New Yorkers.  Much better than the namby-pamby passive aggressive style of us Pacific Northwesterners!

McBirnie - and here I thought all syrup came from Vermont, USA!  Yay for free healthcare!

ClaytonandShauna - I agree Victoria, B.C. is beautiful!  Did y'all know movies, tv shows, and miniseries are filmed now in B.C.?

G8R.Girl - I've never been to Florida, but it's on my Bucket List!

xxxashleyxxx007 - St. Louis also has some bad ass BBQ!

GTBG/Cupcake1818/Kira - I had no idea Colorado had so many sunny days! JEALOUS : )

@KristinaG - re: filming in BC, I did know that :)  Vancouver was even dubbed "Hollywood North" by the media.  One really cool fact, the X-men movies, Xavier's school was filmed at Royal Roads College's Hatley Castle.

I love learning where everyone is from!

ClaytonandShauna - I worded that wrong - I meant to convey "y'all" as in the REST of the PW Girls.  I was bragging on your behalf, lol.

Lingy - I also just read that San Jose is the tenth largest city in the U.S.

BeliuminAustralia - Mmmm...beer and chocolate.  And PLEASE get into the dodgy stuff ; )
