Make sure that the venue didnt close off a portion of the room for the wedding your friend went to. I know with my venue they can make the room larger or smaller to accomodate the amount of guests. Just a thought to consider! Hope everything works out!

Sorry kells! But I've heard the same thing as Yeahusc1--that like 10-20 percent end up not coming. Also--and I don't remember where I heard this, but I've made an "A list" and a "B list." Geez it sounds tacky when I say it that way, but believe me it's been really helpful. The A list is of course the immediate family and friends I couldn't picture my special day without. The B list are any people my parents randomly bring up that I've never met, or family that we rarely see if at all...etc. So I've set my guestlist at 180 and anything over that goes to the B.

I didn't send out STD's to avoid some hurt feelings, and I will send out invites super early. So as regrets come in, I plan to send out a B list invite, so they don't think they were a last minute addition. So maybe you can even go over your guestlist again and see if you can add a "B" list and lower your "A" list count??

Is it possible your friend was mistaken? How does she know exactly how many people were at the wedding? It is so hard to count the number of guests at a wedding, one always has a skewed perspective. Perhaps there were 200 guests and that's why they looked crammed...If I were you I would check with the venue and all the seating options, and ask them exactly how many people can be seated. Keep you cool and talk to the venue!!!

Don't take her word for it, contact your venue and get your information straight from the source, you might be stressing over hear-say. Also, I can't imagine a venue allowing you to rent for more people than it can hold. Lastly, check to see if you can have a bar set up in the patio area to encourage guests to mingle inside and out.

good luck!

I agree w/ the others, def double ck w/ ur venue on the max table/guest capacity which excludes the dance floor, DJ/band space, cake table and etc. We had a similar issue @ our wedding, our ballroom was max capacity @ 280 ppl. I was so worried that the whole room would be very cramped but in the end bout 15% of the guests declined or didn't show so everything turned out great. So don't stress too much about it, things will work itself out. Good luck!
