congrats on the 5lbs!

i'm not much help with keeping motivated to go to the gym, because i can so easily be swayed to skip! but what does help me is that DH and i work out together and try to keep each other on track. do you have a workout buddy? it definitely helps to have the moral support!

another thing that keeps me going is that i don't go to the gym every single day. on alternating days, we'll work out in the park. we also take ballroom dance classes, which i love! a little bit of variety keeps me from getting bored with my workout routine.

Some things that motivate me (but doesnt usually work for others) is to pig out until I am sick sick sick. Haha I know, its not the best thing but it kicks my butt into gear and I realize WHY I dont like pigging out and why I do like eating healthy and working out.

Another thing I like to do is mix up the work out. Like take a walk around a park or ride a bike outside for a bit.

Congrats on the weight loss!  You're doing good so far don't give up!

What has worked for me currently in the past and what is working for me now is taking the most recent photo.  So you can see your progress.  Another is to work out w/ friends who have the same goals as you.  Maybe one of your BMs may be trying to lose weight for your wedding too?  Make them your gym buddy.  You can also go directly after work or before work.  That way you won't skip out on the gym.  Lastly is to have variety with your workouts.  That way you won't get bored.

try working out outside of the gym also on some days if you can. and just think about getting to your goal and how it will all be so worth it in the end!

WOO HOO re: your five pounds gone.  GREAT job!!!  :D

~~~
Definitely try some classes that feel more like fun than working out. I go to the gym 5x a week now and the 2 days I LOVE going and would never miss (even though one of them is at 9am on a Saturday O.o) are my two "fun" class days - Water Aerobics and Bellydancing!
Aside from that, maybe a weekly reward (not food!) that you get ONLY if you to the gym all the times you're supposed to?  It could be putting an extra $10 aside for something you want, or maybe you let yourself take a vacation day for every 6 weeks in a row you hit all your gym days?
Maybe it can be as simple as accountability.  Every week, without fail come here and post and let us know if you made it to the gym all your days.  If you did, we will happily shower you with praise.  If not, we'll encourage you (which is nice but not as exciting as being showered with praise!) ;)
Hope this helps!  Be sure to come back and tell us how you're doing :)
i hear ya!  motiviation is the hardest part!  way harder than 30 min on the stair machine!  i love yoga, but i have the hardest time motivating myself to go there instead of just going home.  for me, it really helps if i'm meeting someone there.  if i'm meeting someone i'm a lot less likely to flake out, you know?
I hear ya, wildfire, one of my besties just joined the gym and now we meet up there on Saturday mornings for water aerobics -- I would NEVER miss it, knowing I get to see her.  :)
What if you brought your gym clothes to work and changed in the restroom before you left the office?  For the first month of going to the gym, I had to do that so I'd go - and it worked!
yeah, that's a good one too, lori.  i've done that before and it's a lot easier to go if you just get it over with right after work rather than going home and sitting down...
