Hair & make up

Hey girls... i'm looking for a hair and makeup artist.... Do you guys have anyone you can recomend in the L.A area... I need someone to come to the hotel where i'm gonna be staying at.. I would appreciate it if you guys help me out..

I want to do a trial first.. but how much is it ok to spend? i dont want to over-pay. How far from the wedding should i do the hair/makeup trial?

thanx :)

I booked Natalie Buketov.  She's in OC but she goes to LA, I believe.  My wedding is in three weeks and I did my trial in April...but I think I was way early.  Her prices have gone up a bit since I booked her I believe.  To hold my date, I paid $150.  After the trial, f you book her, the $150 goes toward your day-of services.  If not, then she keeps $75.  I do believe her prices have gone up a bit but many girls on PW have used her in the past...her prices seemed most reasonable to me...

for my san diego ceremony, i'm just going to the MAC counter at nordstrom the day of and having one of the muas do my face...  i'll bring maybe 3 "inspiration" pics for her to work from and go from there...

it's $50 in products you must purchase, but i'm cool with that...  i'm also getting married on a tuesday so it probably wont be as crowded as on the weekends

what i think i'm going to do also is go to the MAC counter here and have them do my makeup and take pics after that to show the mua in san diego - and also get a list of all the shades of eyeshadow, etc so i get the same/similar look...

i know most of the muas at mac do weddings and special events on the side - that may be an option for you???

if that's too scary for you to just "wing it" like that... try finding one on www.modelmayhem.com
type in what you need and the area where you need and see what artists are pulled up... you can review each artists portfolio...

=============================

if that's too scary for you w/o any recos... i'd look in the PW vendor section for reviews from previous brides... i think weddingwire also has a vendor section - but that board is slow, so you may not get alot of feedback

www.yelp.com is also a good resource to check out

Dottie & Molly were great to work with- awesome team! One does hair and one does make-up!

HMM - How much did Dottie and Molly charge?

Bunny - How much?

So far I've seen $250 for bridal hair and makeup and I'd like to know if that's about right or if it's cheaper or more than others. Thanks! I'm a long while off but it's still good to know how much $$ to allot to my beautification...I'm gonna need a lot of it on that day! lol

Pixie-

They were $65H & $65MU for the BM

For the bride I believe they were $250 (which is a lot to me haha but I felt so comfortable with them/ trusted them)

They were like $30 for FG/ Jr.BM???

HMM- thanks for the info. That $250 seems to be "about right" as far as some of hair and mu goes. It is outrageous but if brides concur that they never looked better, then it's a small price to pay. :)
