Hanging crystals alternative!!!!!!!

O.k so I can not afford to buy hanging crystals like i've sen them in all their glory. Some people can, I can't.  So I have been making my own Manzanita centerpieces and in that I saw that people add broken glass to the base for added sparkle and shimmer. A little bag of that was $4.00 I wasn't going to buy that for all my centerpieces. I went to a local Los Angeles (Auto Glass) place and asked them what they did with their cracked glass. Long story short they gave me an entire box of all their cracked glass. I put it on my centerpiece mock up and it looks great!!! O k so I photo 78826-1 I love the way it shines like little diamonds all over the base. But I'm not done with the base yet. Still have to work in some moss and some orchids and what not. O.k, so one of the reasons I fell in love with Manzanita was the hanging crystals.  I was sitting at home watching wife swap today, and then it hit me!!!!!!   I had that bouncy clear bracelet string that looks like fishing string!  And I had a hot glue gun, and a ton of the crackled glass!!!!!  So I'm like... let's try it!  and this is the only two that I've made so far.. Believe it or not it doesn't look bad at all!! I'm thinking of making a bunch of the strings and putting them up to see how the whole look will come out. But it shines so nice because the glass is crackled.  I'll wait and see if my FI Mitch shoots the idea.. But I really like it.O k so I photo 78826-2O k so I photo 78826-3

Very creative! I would've never thought of going to an auto glass shop!! Major props!

I think it looks great. The base is blinging! I say go for it.

Wow! That's so creative! I wonder if you can add the glass pieces on the outside of the vase or bowl that's holding the Manzanita? I think it would bring a lot of glam to the centerpiece. Do you guys think that's too dangerous...I mean for handling?
